Thread: Why doesn't Negi get a Pactio Card?

It always bothers me why Negi doesn't get a Pactio Card. I mean, he performs the contract as well, doesn't he? At first, I thought that maybe only it Minister Magi's could get a Pactio Card. However, in the Mahora Tournament, Mei used her artifact, and she's a student mage. Albireo also has a Pactio Card and he's a mage too, seeing as he used gravitational magic. He does fight pretty well too though. I'm kinda confused about this, maybe ya'll can provide some opinions ^^

In the battle against Kotaro he forms a pact with himself shouldn't he get a card from that

That's a contract for powering himself with magic. The way Kotarou uses chi and stuff. The pactio is the kissing with the circle and getting an artifact.

The contract Negi makes with himself is stated in the series to be an Incomplete Contract. He uses the philosphy of imbuing his target with his magical energy the way the Pactio works, however instead of transfering the power to another user he simply applies it to himself. Thus there is a pretty big difference between a Provisional Contract (Pactio) and the Incomplete Contract (Self Buff).

meh his lips touch each other it should still count I just want to see what kind of messed up artifact a magical artifact collector like Negi would get remember the magic gun ^^

Uhh, I kinda meant when Negi kisses someone, why does that someone get the card and Negi doesn't? I mean, BOTH enter the contract but Negi doesn't get it. Earlier, someone said about the leader and subordinate thing, but this leads me to wonder how they differentiate leaders and subordinates... cuz when Konoka and Negi kiss, both are mages, and Konoka gets the card but Negi doesn't... even when Konoka's potential is supposedly stronger.

im guessing these posibilities

1. Position on the circle
2. Circle written for each mage is different
3. The one who implies(or imprints) his magic(or the vassal that implies the magic for his leader) is the leader

I thought that they both get a copy of the card. During the trip to Kyoto Negi uses his copy to try and telapathicly (awful spelling) contact Asuna but because she wasn't told how to use the card that he gives up and uses his cell phone.

Though in the later books he doesn't have to use a card, only the card holder does that...

e.g. His practice date with asuna during the festival

As for whos picture appears, it probably has to do with the magic circle that Kamo draws on the ground. Part of it probably determines negi as the leader figure in the contract.

anyway, why he needs a his own card when he can enchance himself with the spells i think
