i read negima, my sister reads negima too, and we like it and yes, there are really a LOT more girls than boys reading manga. just look here on the german animexx fanpage:

edit: oh and @Digital_Eon - even though i read negima myself, i sometimes do think it starts to get hentai. just remember the scene with eva and negi... i thought, wtf, necrophile hentai. but akamatsu draws hentai too, so dont be surprised.

nah, that stuff with eva and negi is just fan-service. hentai is like the anime version of porn, which you will never seen in negima (or at least i don't think so)

The closest thing there ever was to sex, that I remember (in Love Hina and MSN) is when Kanako molests someone (Motoko?) in Love Hina near the end, and that was offscreen. There's just nudity in these, and that really is fanservice.

Hentai is much, much worse.

while technically shes like 1000 years old, she became a vampire when she was a child so in a way shes around negis age as well

tsk norms and the likes are what defines loli, a few sets the standard and when they make it "law" everyone thinks it's right and change their own opinion to fit the rest of the society's.

I'm female. Actually, I've known more girls who read Negima rather than boys. I wouldn't consider Negima as hentai, as some of the people I know do. It's all in your head, after all <.< Depending on how pervertic your brain is, ya'll interpret the situation differently. I've read Love Hina as well, and most of the male anime/manga fans I know don't even want to read Negima cuz they heard from others its hentai (which I disagree). The power of peer influence...

oh, that was in Love Hina Again where they decided to up the heaviness of the fan-service.. i have to agree with you that that's the most extreme i've seen in Love Hina and Negima. for Negima itself, there's not really anything close to that.

and if evangeline starts getting into adult situations, i would call it loli. i mean, the fact that she's actually really, really old will not register with people's minds.

Fan service makes the story looks childish, if you are going to show it then show it.
