what do you guys think of the english version of mahou sensei negima? Is it good or bad? post your thoughts.
I've heard that they change a lot of dialogue for the English version, but I've never really noticed it. Del Rey does make a lot of changes in general, though, and it's really expensive... but very high-quality books and all...

Very well done.
I'm collecting the Del Rey releases. And of course not knowing how much they change is a bit frustrating, but like you said, it's HQ release and in paperform. I hope sincerely that they don't change so much that the story feels out of place. Of course only someone who knows MSN by heart (japanese version) and also fluent in English can make a comparison of the two...
Publishers don't tend to answer questions about translations, so it's a black hole, but the plus is that they have translation notes.
Heh, i recently bought the VOL.10 of Negima from Del Rey, and i found an error, but otherwise, it's nice :3
The error was at the part where Negi was in the Haunted House, Ako's name was on Natsumi's shirt and Natsumi's name was on Ako's Shirt =.=
Also, it's Negima! Magister Negi Magi in English.

also in japanese, but we're so used to MSN that we stick to it.
the original translator was bad but he was replaced after 3 books. i guess enough people complained. after all when they called asuna a monkey when the failed twister they just said we fail basically so yeah even with my minimal japanese skills i knew that one
nobody is perfect im a nobody therefor i am perfect
well, yeah, unfortunately the fucking japanese company's don't seem to care whether the foreign translation is good or not, which is very unfortunate.
If I was the japanese company, I woulden't care.
I did my part selling the serie, now it's Del Rey's turn to translate it~~
