Secondly what proof do you have that Negi can at any time be as cocky as Nagi, none! Also remember how he crushed that demon he held up in one hand, you think Negi is like that ? So no match personality-wise, plus he'd recognize himself and his Oneechan lying on the ground, on top of that, I don't remember Negi being skilled in stopping petrification.

Also there is a limit to how old you can be by using the aging pills, which was explained during Negi and Asuna's "date-project", and the Nagi that showed up 6 years ago is older than Takamichi (which should be 30ish).
1)when you stated the first statement you could be wrong there cause Negi DID look like nagi so that could be like 50/50
2)when u stated the second statement he could have jusy gone to magic overdrive becasue he could not belive that was NOT his father so he got in to berserk and took it on the demons

Oooooookkayy....lets recap on exactly what 'Nagi' said to child Negi on that faithful day of destruction>

    Nagi: " Im sorry i came too late.....you are.....I see...you are Negi?
You intend to protect your sister? You've grown up huh.....Oh, I just remembered....I'll give you this staff....as a memento.....too heavy?
There is no time left....Nekane will be alright, i stopped the petrification, she just needs time to heal.
Im really sorry I can't do anything for you, its not like I have any right to say this, but......grow up well and be happy....."

    Negi: FATHER!!!!!!

/right, now THAT did not sound like Negi. It sounded like Nagi was slightly dazed when meeting Negi (maybe he is experiencing magical resistence of some sort) but gradually recognised him all the same. Its like the meeting was coincidental not like Nagi was deliberately seeking Negi out. ( and dont say that Negi/Nagi was just acting since he could have said "Thank god you're alright" and child Negi would be none the wiser). I believe that this IS genuinely Nagi as the staff would also be an indication. If you really believe that this Nagi was future age-pill Negi then he could have said ANYTHING that could indicate he knew something about the future or at least urge child Negi to grow up in a certain way. But no, he said something obscure like 'well and happy' like he was uncertain that he'll get to see the result of Negi's growing up but at least hopes for a generally positive outcome.

And no, i dont believe that thin arguement of Negi going overide because 'he is not his father' thing. I can't believe anyone would think Negi to be so emotionally unstable. We are talking about a 10 year old, not some berserker of a typical shounen hero.

    Talking Auch!!!

Hmm... I can see that there are indeed some (*cough*) holes in my theory. Alright I'm re-reading chap. 65/66!!!

    ...

    OK, then tell me. How in the world would Nagi be able to know that his homevillage was about to be attacked? If it would be Negi then we know why. It would also make sence that he would say "my coming was to late" as he would want to save his village (which he just have failed to do so). Then he remembered the scene he is in at that time (which might be why he's dazed) and thinks like;
Oops! Act father-like! What should I say... oh yeah

    "You've really grown."

Oh yeah, I have to give him the staff now...

"think of it as a momento..."

Now he really thinks I'm dad...

About him being ruthless. I would be two if I was trying the save my village in which everybody gets slaughtered. Especially by demons, which Negi sees as utter evil. He has no problem destroying demons as far as I know.

Also the Demon says "I see... you're that..." He doesn't say "...you're 1000 master." Being a demon (have you guys noticed this is the demon Asuna made a contract with in the anime, just wanted to tell you) he might have the abilty to see through magical illusions, thus seeing Negi not Nagi. He might want to say "you're that... man's son." And in which drawing did Negi block a petrification? I can't find it... But we know Negi is pretty good at healing himself. I'm reffering to the match with Setsuna in which Negi recieved a really deep cut in his cheek. He tells the worried Setsuna "Don't worry. it is nothing I can't heal up myself..."
Did we ever see 1000 master use a staff while fighting? I don't believe he would be needing one anymore. He can fly without one for instance.
But then 'Nagi' did fly away after giving his staff to Negi. Maybe the Cassiopea 'pulled' him back to his own time. 'Nagi' did say "there is no time left." That might also be why he said "I'm really sorry I can't do anything for you." Because he wouldn't exist in that time anymore.
Also the fact that Nagi is older then the pills could make Negi, could be discarded simply by the fact that his face is covered in a shadow all the time. But please look at the drawing of his face when 'Nagi' flaots away. Just barely one eye is visible. Nagi has sharp eyes like Kotarou, but this eye is like that of 'grown Negi' during the practise-date with Asuna.
About the fact that he says "I have no right to say this, but grow up happy and well..." Negi would say he has no right say this exactly because he isn't Nagi (who would have the right to say this because he is Negi's father.)

There I hope if cleared a few things up. well that's the way I think about it anyway.

if you put in a few more probabilities, maybe you can make people believe that Negi is god. Your theory is flawed and no matter what probabilities you pump it full off won't be enough to make it "possible".

Negi is not specialized in healing, small wounds he can deal with but there is no way he can deal with petrification. And there is no way Negi can be as ruthless as you say he can be.

Also how can Nagi know his village was under attack... dunno, maybe it was a coincidence or maybe Nagi heard somewhere from rumours about a lot of demons going to attack a village, it doesn't have to be connected to the "harry potter" syndrome you seem to think.

Aside from that, turning back in time and pretending to be Nagi would simply destroy the "current" Negi, and that is who we're following, since he'd make a logical connection between his own action and that of different-time Negi. Which would ultimately lead to the conclusion that he didn't meet his own father 6 years ago, which would mean that he had lied to Evangeline about this and himself.

And whether you like it or not Negi still aspires to be as great as his father, and destroying that image through that kind of action would be devastating.

You're right when it comes to the fact of it all being very unlikely and I guess also about Negi being able to heal petrification. But isn't that a funny thing in manga's? the unlikely happening? It keeps things interesting.

Anyway you're saying the "current" Negi would be destroyed. That is true and maybe that's just what Akamatsu wants. But saying that he would have lied not. I mean, are you saying that little Negi would have recognised himself as a "grown" man that night? I don't think that's the case. But Negi would realise immediatly that his little self is watching him and thinking he is his father Nagi. He would realise that he has no other choice but to pretend. Really, I never said he started off with the intent to pretend being Nagi. We have already seen Negi meeting with himself by accident. And Negi now has the memory of his father from the tournement, which looked just like he wanted/imagened.

In that sence, how can you say that Negi lied to Evangeline about himself and all this, when he probably only figures it out himself the moment he stands there looking at the burning village?

btw... Why do you always burn people down to the ground with sarcastic comments? I mean I started this tread, I have seen you reply to other post with that same kind of attitude. It's not wrong to point people on there mistakes, but do so with elligence. I know you really hate people who use bad english, post short un-informative post and generally talk utter crap. That is unavoidable i guess. But the way you're talking to some people just doesn't seem right. Please try to have some dignity in the way you approuch your "prey" and also in yourself. Don't let people see so easily what you are made off.
But if you really don't give about any of this then you can add me to your list of people "I-don't-wanna-read-stuff-off." But please do make sure that that list will not become to long (,which it will if you keep on insulting like that.) Yes, I am saying you can just skim past all of my posts. If it really bothers you to read them then please do so. I wouldn't want to make anybody angry and if my post anger you then it would be for the best of us both.

The current-Negi is the one who'll realise that he didn't see his father back 6 years ago, and I always talk out of current-Negi (the one who's story we follow's point of view, unless I say otherwise. And he'll also understand that he's lied to Evangeline. Whether he knew it back then or not won't change that he's given Evangeline false hope, since Negi meeting his younger self would mean that his father probably isn't alive.

I'm sorry if you take offense from my comments, but your theory is practically a ripoff from Harry potter, and that is the same as accusing Akamatsu for plagiarism, I know someone has already commented about this, but you guys just don't seem to understand that. Your theories belittle what hard work the mangaka puts into making an original story, and that triggers me.

I don't think Negi will go for that obvious bait Chao gives him about "changing" the past, what if it means he doesn't get to meet Asuna and the others because of that ? Isn't that how it works in all time travelling stories, you change the past and it changes the future.

Right now Negi knows that going back in time is possible so he might want to do the same. The only time he knows that it is possible to see is father was only 6 years ago in the buring village or during another tournament that Nagi was fighting in.

If you say 6 years ago was Negi he could've just grown up and and went back in time for some reason. If you say that it is not like Negi to act that way during the buring village. Well Negi already changed a lot in personally in the couple of months that he stayed in the school. He is more "grown up" then anyone have thought so he could still change is personally since hes only 10. In a few years he could be a completely different person for all we know if in a few months he can change that much.

What blood type did the writer give him btw. Japanese people believe blood types give people personally so that will help I guess.

Yes, in a few years he may change and become a ruthless killer, but I can't see that happening, even Takamichi said that Negi's personality is completely opposit of Nagi's (right before Negi and Takamichi's fight).

maybe Chao when back in time to meet with Nagi then went forward again to the village with Nagi then jumped again. time travel sure is confusing

Do we know when did Nagi dissappeared first? because world tree have high power every 22 years so Chao can time travel long distances in certain years only right.
