Rant thread over noobs and others...

I should hope the mods who end up with this forum will create rules, as they will be needed. We're sort of... creating our own. At the moment. Temporary rules.

Some people really do need a good kick to see that they're wrong. It's unfortunate, but mild comments don't always help.

We really need this thread, I mean, alternative is that we have to bash the noobs where ever we see them.

Seriously some of the noobs that has started to post in the MSN thread are just the types I'd like to choke, what the heck is happening, we're starting a good topic and manage to get a desent discussion started when they come in with they half baked, Mad cow disease posts, wtf! DIE!

And not only that they even manage to hide it pretty well due to their "mastery" of the English language, wtf if you live in "New York" how the hell can't you be better at English then.... (find that villain and single him out my fellow bashers).

Anyone else got someone to bash ?

Okay, now I need to respond to this in full instead of commenting about the situation.

In my eyes, n00bs > flamers. That viewpoint can apply to basically anybody except for the flamer him/herself, because he's supposedly happy or proud about it.

Think about it this way: You're new to a school that you just transferred to, and you don't know that there is an unspoken rule around about not irritating this insanely popular guy around about the 1-inch diameter mole under his left ear. People giggle about what you're doing, and then some self-made "protector" of this popular guy starts to shove you around and insult you.

What would you think?

If I'm a bystander, my sympathy goes to the newcomer. Of course, I would giggle at him for making an obvious mistake that he doesn't know about, but if this "protector" starts shoving him around, won't you think it's getting a little overboard? I mean...he doesn't know the rules, you know. I'm not going to start supporting the "protector," who in my eyes would look like a bully right away.

Guess what? The newcomer would instantly stop any friendly ideas with the popular guy, and will regard you right away as an ass. You all could have been great friends, you know.

Okay, enough with the example. You get the idea.

Basically, you're eliminating popular support from the popular guy. What's more is that you're not going to stop newcomers from coming in. You just massacred one helpless person, but you really can't stop people from transferring to the school, you know! That just makes you way less popular.

Hope you get the message. I've always thought that you're a friendly and supportive Negima fan, Saithan, so don't make me change that thought. =P

P.S. You can see from this post that I'm born with no capacity at all to be mean, and people sometimes...uh...use me because of that. Maybe that adversely handicaps my argument. No, I don't believe in religion and be kind to all living beings and all that, but seriously...give newcomers some slack. Give them a PM and say "Hey there, I think you should know this..." and they'll get the message like anybody would!

P.S.2 No, I'm not a narcissist and I'm not implying that "popular guy" as me.

Now I need to contact a mod and have him lock this...this isn't a topic for Negima.

I think you are right. And by the way, not all n00bs by post counter are n00bs in reality. Imagine, one has 7-10 posts and in the same time stayed there over 2-3 years. That is hapening quite regulary. So DON'T BASH! READ AND UNDERSTAND FIRST! And ONLY if the person is complete wrong - bash!

Thats my way of thinking, i'm not meant to offend anyone.

Btw, I'm Russian. Maybe some mistakes in language.

But seriously, it's a real pain having to spend time reading a post, then read it a few more times trying to understand what on earth they're trying to say. I usually spend more than 10 minutes reading a Negima chapter, whilst others manage it in 4 minutes. Not beause I'm a slow reader, but because I try to understand underlying implications (or whether there are ny such thing).

So I ask you, isn't it natural to get angry over posts where it is apparent that the "poster" hasn't read carefully previous posts ?

And I think it is our duty to point out that they ought to pay more attention to what is written. We communicate through words (and whatever we write). So I think the "new guy" who wants to join in the discussion owes the previous "posters" the decency (at least) of reading their posts "carefully". Especially because most of us take great precaution (most of the time) to not post something that might be misunderstood.

That's why I can't help but see the "new guy(s)" as the rodeo clown jumping in to get the bulls attention. Whenever they post thoughtlessly.

Seriously though, I'm sorry, if any of the new guys feel offended by my posts, but I hope they are thoughtful enough to atleast think before posting a reply on a whim.

That's actually about my speed, because I tend to not analyze things too much. Theories bother me.

I think you should click on the link that was provided on the first page to get an idea of what is considered noobish. Asking for examples is the same as asking for someone to throw gasoline on a burning house.
