Thread: Inuyahsa's Ending (Obv spoilers if you havent finished)

Well, for all of those that read all 500+ chapters of this series, what did you think of the ending?

I was so sure while reading the series that it would end with Inuyasha becoming a human and going to live in the present with Kagome, so I was pretty surprised when the opposite happened and Kagome went back to live in the past with Inuyasha. Other then that though I thought it was a pretty bland 'and they all lived hapilly ever after' type of ending...

I knew he wouldn't become a human, but I also thought he'd go to live in the present with Kagome. Overall, I liked the ending. Sure, I would have preferred that the well stay open and they live in the present time, but as far as endings go, it was good. Everything was wrapped up neatly, the right couple got together in a good way... and I am *so* thankful Kagome left when she was eighteen, an age when she could decide to separate from her family and live on her own as an adult. It was a "happily ever after" thing, but it was a pretty good chapter and almost exactly the kind of ending most people had been hoping for, I think (unless you wanted to see people die).

It was a totally mediocre ending in my opinion, but at least it ended ok with most plotlines concluded. The story was way too long with only one primary villain and I wish that Naraku should have died after 300 chapters etc. To make room for a new villain, although that is the standard shonen pattern it still gives some variety to the story.

But overall it was a good shounen universe, I just wish there had been some changes to the story. That is just my opinion anyway.

I actually liked that we had one main villain throughout (although Naraku got shuffled aside for the pointless Mouryoumaru for part of the story). We didn't need another Bleach, where it COULD have ended but didn't. And anyway, I don't really see how Takahashi could have introduced another one; Naraku was the ultimate reason for everyone fighting. The only thing next would've been the Shikon no Tama... and that did happen.

Yeah, that was the one thing that I was surprised by as well.

I didn't mind having a single villain in the story, but I did hate the mindless repetitions of Naraku escaping, getting stronger, followed by team Inuyasha powering up to repeat the cycle. Mouryoumaru was one of the more interesting arcs imho but I also didn't see him legitimately getting realized in a manga where all the offshoots of Naraku end up dying or getting reabsorbed.
I don't really buy the whole Bleach argument because 1) Takahashi was clearly not going for conciseness or quality with this run, especially considering the number of arcs that could have been altogether omitted without changing the ending, 2) There were several opportunities for Rumiko to end the cycle, and 3) Bleach is better.

Quite frankly I didn't like the ending to much, but it did make sence. The main thing that I get a kick out of is that Kagome became her own Great-grandmother. I mean think about it for a bit: her Grandfather states at the begining that they were responsable for the SnT from "ancient" times. There is the fact that there is some form of spiritual energy in most of her family from that side. In the end she goes back in time to marry and live with Inuyasha with no chance to come to the future. The kids would have to grow up some where/when.

Edit: side note this is also a nod to the story arc where she meets the ancestor of the boy who was interested in her back in "our" world.

I think it was baaad, but befitting for this manga.

I think the ending was quite good (for this series anyway^^) but I also kinda thought that Inuyasha would become a human and so on....But I agree with the most of you,everything turned up like it should =)
But I still wonder if they could go to the present day again?I guess not because it only let Kagome get back to Inuyasha.....
Still,I would´ve liked seeing Shippou as a grown up Kitsune demon

Assuming Shippou would still be alive in five hundred years. =P And that he'd know how to get in contact with... meh, whatever, good end, it wasn't Ranma. =)
