Post-Marital Living Arrangements?
So let's say Haruhi eventually falls in love with and marries one of the rich men at her school. (In the lead in that poll are Tamaki, Kyoya, and Hikaru for who we think she should end up with.) What sort of lifestyle do you think the happily married couple would adopt? Rich or middle class? I say "middle class" instead of "poor" because Haruhi should be able to get a good job and make money once out of school, and the boys should be able to, too, since they actually do have good grades and thus some sort of...work...ethic...I think.
At any rate, do you think Haruhi could actually adjust to having lots of money at her disposal, or that the boys could handle having what would seem to them like none at all? I know they enjoy the "commoner's" experience, but frankly from my point of view that seems like more of an experiment. Actually living that way for an extended period of time might be hard for them.
What do you all think?
(Disclaimer: I don't think money would be a deciding factor in any potential relationship, I'm honestly just amused by either scenario - the boys adjusting to Haruhi's lifestyle, or her adjusting to theirs. On that note, what amusing hurdles do you think they'd all have to leap? XD)

Probably something like Harriet Vane after marrying Lord Peter Wimsey, I suspect -- living on his income, but with her bemused by this different culture she's suddenly a part of, observing it as an outsiders as she tries to get used to it.
(I'm thinking of the Sayers chapters of Thrones, Dominations here, not the continuations commissioned by her estate. (BTW, if you haven't read the Lord Peter Wimsey mystery novels, anyone who likes shoujo manga has a good chance of liking them -- especially the ones with Harriet. Try Have His Carcase. (Are we allowed to talk about non-Japanese prose works in these forums? (Am I allowed to abuse parentheses this way? (I hope so.)))))

I think with Haruhi's brain and [insert your favourite choice here]'s money. they would be successful in any business they wanted too. Haruhi can easily adjust to almost any situation (or better yet she just doesn't care). She wouldn't have any problems living a life of luxury. heck she might want a life like that, she could finally support her father so that he wouldn't need to work too hard.
but if she ended up with Tamaki. the most likely scenario would be what DE said.

Haruhi wants to become an attorney, like her mother. I think she'll earn a lot with her brain (but she has to mature more...I mean she's still pretty naive).
Really...I can't imagine Haruhi as a very rich woman. just a very well-known business-woman who gets along withe the rich class (or even being an attorney for the rich and middle class).

I think Haruhi would probably adjust to the rich lifestyle, but I don't think she probably won't be as oblivious as the boys, but even if she didn't marry a rich guy, she'd be relatively wealthy with her brain. Either way, she'd probably have to adjust to living rich. The difference is that she'd still be very conscious about her money and wouldn't spend excessively.

I think Haruhi definately wouldnt like the rich lifestyle because she is a hard worker and enjoys living a normal lifestyle. When i think about each of the Host club boys I think all of them would be able to adjust to living middle class over time. I think Tamaki would be the hardest to adapt since hes an idiot but he would enjoy it the most. Kyoya on the other hand could easily adapt to living like that but I dont think he would like it very much since he loooves money. I think the twins would be the same as Tamaki.

yah i agree with what you said about kyoya not having an interest in living that way and needing his connections. I'm just thinking about how he seems to understand the common life more then any of the other host club members. Whenever they go on one of their commoner trips Kyoya and Mori are the only ones who dont act like idiots and kyoya seems to be comfortable in any place he is (except the time he was lost with no money or cell phone). Also, I think they would live middle class but they would still have good jobs and make a lot of money they just wouldnt be showing it as much like no servants and no big mansion or limo.

The bottomline is that either way, whether be it the boys or haruhi, one side would definitely have to sacrifice something, if not both sides. I'm more interested in the possible scenarios that would happen IF haruhi gets married to one of the boys, say, Kyouya. (Forsaking the rich and middle class argument for the meanwhile ^_^). I'd imagine Kyouya waking up with that low-blood-pressure-scary-as-hell-temper and Haruhi just nonchalant about it and drags him off to breakfast (poor Kyouya
)
