Same with me to be honest. I don't really have time so I haven't read all the manga yet whereas I have seen all the anime so that's not a complete and total definate decision on my part.

You guys are missing SO much - the anime is incomparable to the manga. I understand that watching an anime first may help you to like it more - because I've been reading the manga for YEARS - but the manga is more than worth reading. You'll miss a lot otherwise.

I chose both...because I really like both! I like the twin's character design in the anime more than the manga, plus the voice actors are SUCH GOOD CHOICES.
But I also like the manga because it has that little extra touch that anime can never have. I dunno. ; I like both!

It's so annoying that a lot of Ouran fans only watch the anime and absolutely refuse to give the manga a chance because they 1) are lazy, 2) don't like reading, or 3) don't want to alter their perceptions of the anime (which are non-canon anyway).
To those people: I don't care if you watched the anime AND read the manga and still like the anime better. That's fine. But don't close your eyes and scream about how the anime is better if you haven't read the manga at all. Sorry. Rant over.

I like both of them.
the manga has more detail in the story, some of the events has been explained properly compared to the anime and it has lot of Nekozawa scenes compared to the anime. Bereznoff is happy ^^ the anime has a faster flow but it followed a proper time line. some details were cut off but I like how they use symbolism in different episodes (the bulbs, Kyouya's painting etc.). love their seiyuus, opening and ending songs. Kiss kiss fall in love na nah na nah yay! yay! *ahem* anyway .... recommended for everyone! \(^ o ^)/

Normally, in a situation like this, I'd go for the manga. Since the manga is the original and I often prefer the original. Plus, I found the manga much earlier than the anime. But the anime has a lot to offer itself. Some episodes were better in the manga (such as the Honey and his little brother episode, I don't know why they took out Mori's brother in the anime) but others, like the Kasanoda arc seemed much better in the anime. Maybe it's because of the twins.
The anime is for most part faithful to the manga storyline, and that's a big plus for me. I didn't really like the last two episodes, but what the hell. It's still great overall. Besides, the anime features a lot more of Renge, and that's a plus for me. The manga has more story to it (since it doesn't suffer from the 30 minute time limit) and we get more of Nekozawa. I'd go with equal. XD One thing I noticed though, was that I got to watch the Kasanoda arc on the anime first, and after that didn't really feel like reading the arc on the manga. On the other hand, the chapters I read on the manga first were fun to watch on the anime. I guess it's better to go through the manga -> anime line than anime -> manga line. So yeah, read the manga first. |
