Thread: Accessing licensed series

There are certain licensed series, such as Arata Kangatari and Bakuman, that ST used to host but no longer appear in the list of series. All well and good. However, new chapters for these series do sometimes show up in the Latest Updates list. When I click through to the series page such as this for Bakuman or this for Arata Kangatari, I get the message "This manga series for some reason does not exist." I can find no other way to get to those series pages except the Latest Updates list.

How can a user get to those series pages?

Or, if we can't and you have truly stopped hosting them, could you please stop TAUNTING us by mentioning them in the latest updates?

I think this relates to the troubles the scanlation scene was experiencing a while back (coalition of western and japanese publishers taking down websites with illegal scans).

IIRC Kane removed the links to many licensed series to avoid legal wrath. They are still physically on the server though, but I don't know if Kane intends to make them available again.

Yeah, links to those series (especially Viz and T-pop series) was part of that. But listing new chapters as updates is ... cruel at best and mendacious at worst.

I will get this fixed Friday/Saturday. They should not be showing up but the releases are being added to our server.

The latest chapter 123 of [i]Bakuman[/1] STILL showed up on the list of updated manga from last night, and is STILL showing up as updated in the last 7 days in the list above, and is STILL showing up as accessible in the list of all manga.

Stop the teasing already. PLEASE.

This was fixed. It seems though I overwrote my code. I just redid things and now things are working again. The last few days a lot of changes have been made, better classes, more admin tools, and most of all our new AJAX manga viewer.

Things are fine now and next friday I will start working on more things around here.
