USS Puget Sound -
Three separate United States Navy vessels.
The first, a a Currituck-Class Seaplane tender, was originally slated to be named Puget Sound, until it was changed at the last minute to the USS Salisbury Sound in 1944. Decommissioned in 1967, sold to Ziddell Explorations Inc. 1972.
The second, an Commencement Bay-Class escort aircraft carrier, the USS Puget Sound was lauched just as WWII was ending in 1945, and decommissioned a year later, scrapped in 1962 after an inglorious life.
The third, the USS Puget Sound, a Samuel Gompers-Class destroyer tender, created 1968, and decommissioned and put in storage 1996.
