picture in signature keeps disappearing

I looked over at the rules section and didnt see anything on signatures, so am asking it here... do I need to reach a certain number of posts before being able to post a picture with the signature? i have tried for about two days and the signature space is showing up blank
I reduced the size of the picture by a few times. And I have tried to put the image in as was shown in the instructions. Are there some different ways to put up pictures?

*Edit : there is nothing wrong with my browser or operating system

*Edit 2 : I managed to link it, but from a different website, it doesnt work if I try to put a link/put in the sig from Deviantart.com

Actually, there are rules for sigs (the entire sig cannot exceed 650x200 pixels, this includes all images and text).

I assume that you are getting the white box with the red "X" in it, if that is the case then its to do with the place you have the image hosted at. Most people use www.imageshack.us or www.photobucket.com.

To put an image in your sig, you need to use this code:
[img]url goes here[/img]
The "/" is very important. Remember to make sure you are using the correct URL.
