i write after a couple of month passed since the last time i asked about this problem i am experiencing, unfortunatly the last time i didn't recieve any replies.
The problem was and still is the fact that after a couple of downloads of mirror 2 i get logged out from the forum and have to re-login if i'd want to download other mirror 2 files. (Even if i check the little box "remember me" near the login panel)
this problem strangely is just limited to that. because if i get in and just read the threads and dont download i can stay loged even for a couple of weeks...
the same applies when i download from mirror 1, i dont have any logout problems.
But obviously as i said this isnt a big problem since i can solve it temparily by re-loging.
Anyway take your time if u dont have time to reply to this post even though i hope this time i'll have a bit more chance.
wait.. letme get this straight..
when you download from the mirrors it asks you for a user and password or is it when you go to postin the forums again?
If its the second, check your webbrowser and make sure its accepting cookies and not deleting them after a few minutes :)
If its asking when you go to download.. what download manager are you using?
I need a post to quote that has something to do with rules. Imagine one here.
no... i'm sorry maybe i didnt explain myself well enough...
first i dont use any kind of download managers. (no getright, no xdcc, no mozzilla or whatever they are called. the only download progs i use are torrent and emule which have anything to do with this)
my pc uses:
OS: win xp pro
connection speed: adsl 6mbits
Settings for cookies are setted to not be deleted unless i do it manualy.
altough it might be irrelevant i download 2 files per time.
now the details are these:
usualy when you get in the forum you have to login in the upper right corner of the screen where the login panel is. (unless you checked the "remember me" box) once you have done that you can freely start posting and downloading files from mirror 2 (it seems mirror 1 doesnt require any login to be able to download files from it, and even if i'm sure you know this: you can't download from mirror 2 unless you are a member of the forum).
now having said this, the problem is:
after downloading aproximatly 6 or 8 files from mirror 2 it seems i get loged out automaticaly because when i try to download one more file, i get directed to the page where there is the message "you must be a member to download this" so i have to go back to the forum main page, re-login, and i can start downloading again from mirror 2.
one could indeed think that its the settings of my browser but it contrasts with the fact that if i dont download anything but just read the threads or once in a while (quite rare after the few unsuccesfull attempts) post, i can stay logged even for weeks because i checked the "remember me" box in login panel.
now, here's the funny thing.. i've downloaded lots of files from here over the past few weeks and have never seen this problem. Leading me to believe that its not an issue with this end.
now, i dont have firefox installed on these machines but it sure sounds like cookies are being deleted or expiring early on you
well i have downloaded lots of them myself but as i said mirror 1 doesn't pose any problem at all (just mirror 2 gives it) and unless there is a big update in the mirror 2 series, i dont encounter the problem since i just download from mirror 2 a couple of files when they get updated and since its just a couple of them i dont get this message nor do i get loged out.
and for the expiring session of cookies it is quite strange that i can freely read threads and download without getting loged out adding the fact that my session can last even weeks.
as for an example... i downloaded quite some files from mirror 2 (eyeshield and some other series that had been massively upadted) and got the message at least 8 times maybe more. from when i wrote the post a good couple of hours ago till now i haven't experienced any logout problems leading me to the conclusion that it should be something different than a mere cookie expiration.
but... if you say you can freely download a big quantity of mirror 2 files one after another without experiencing this problem maybe it's just a problem i am experiencing...
well there is limits involved but none that should cause your problems..
I have firefox at work, if i get a chance i'll see if theres any odd settings that could cause things like this.
yes limits indeed redirect you to a certain page where you are told you cant download more than 2 files each minute or simply you are redirected to a 403 forbidden page.
this case is a bit similar in the sense that when i go downloading one more file after 6or 8 downloads then i get this "you must be member" page.
but aside from that i dont think limits are involved since i dont go over the limit fixed nor i use any download managers/accelerators
well i'm sorry you even had to install firefox to see for yourself if there where any strange configs.
thanks a lot, i appreciate the time you spent for this problem.
