hi, i was sharing files in dc++ and i went to have some supper while i was downloading a manga volume.
now i came back and i saw 21gbs shared in my name, now me being new to dc++ i freaked because i have a bandwidth cap and i thought it said i let 21gbs be leeched as fast as it took me to eat supper so i unshared my file.
i went to go reshare a smaller file in hopes that i could still distrabute some manga and if someone else wanted more i was free to move it but then i was ip banned.
can someone please fix this? i didnt mean to do anything wrong i believe this is a big misunderstanding and i would like to get it cleaned up.
again, i just started dc++ today and i had no clue what i was doing with it, someone was friendly enough to tell me the basics but sadly not spasific enough for me to know what the sharing did and ment.
21GB in your shared folder. That doesn't mean anything.
i know, i thought it ment i had shared 21 gbs, as in people downloaded 21gbs off of me, that removes from my overall bandwidth. and having a 64gb cap on cable, i was worried.
like i said it was a misunderstanding.
Nononononnono. You have 21GB worth of files that people can POTENTIALLY download from you.
yeah, i found that out, however this doesnt solve my problem, im still ip banned from it.
i am more then willing to share manga and continue helping people find what they need but i was looking out for myself at the time as well.
when it happened the first thing that clicked into my head was "aaahhh rogers is going to cut off my balls!"
*deletes shared folder so that the leeching stops*
they do that you know...
like i said though, i was going to share a new folder and put a lot less manga in it but also in my description tell people to ask me if they dont see the manga they want i will most likly have it *i have 65gbs of manga scattered on my hardrives.*
anyways, do you think i could kind of be un-ip-banned? seeing as this missunderstanding is well...a missunderstanding and not me simply refusing to share files with others?
I'm on Rogers too and I use like more than 1TB of bandwidth every month and they don't say anything. >.>
I can only think of one reason why you got banned. You probably shared your entire hard drive like an idiot and that's against EVERY DC hub's rules.
no, i only shared one manga folder, i am not a total moron haha, i can see the fault clearly in doing that. im more tech savvy then the average joe.
it was because i stopped sharing and was leeching files from someone else.
the last message i got was someone telling me i stopped sharing and then poof i was banned, i went to work got back and typed this thread.
i didnt have anything shared at the time because i was grabbing different manga to put into a new folder, like the first few chapters of the first 40 manga titles I have. just so people who wanted to try out a new title could get a taste, and of course if they read the description i was planning on putting they could ask for the rest of it.
it was about a 10 minute span that i wasnt sharing anything, thats the only thing I can see that I did wrong.
also, that is fricking wierd, ive gone five gb's over my cap before and got a phonecall from rogers.
are you sure that was the only reason.. If i were to track down one of the hub ops or admins and ask the reason they will agree with it?

it was the only thing I could deduce from what I saw.
I agree with my theory but I cant say that they will agree with it themselves.
as far as i know that was the only reason, because that was all I did "wrong"
i read the rules and thats the only thing I found remotely involved.
but yeah im unbanned now so its okie. :)
