    Default manga you COULDN'T finish?

some of us go through manga like we go through socks, and some of us don't. And for the latter of us that don't, some of us pick up a manga and start to read it.

... Only to find out that it sucks. It completely and utterly sucks. Or maybe, it just doesn't catch your attention. It happens to all of us. At least once.

Post what and why. You know, just to grieve or complain, or just to say something.

Oh, I'm constantly testing and putting down series. I don't count it as "not finishing" if I don't get past chapter 3 -- that's "sampling but not starting". It's not necessarily that it sucked -- sometimes it's just not my sort of thing. Though of course there's heaps of suck out there as well.

After that point, I'm most likely to drop something in the 2nd or 5th volume. While it's true that some series start to flag in the teens, usually there's enough momentum to keep me going at that point. Volume 2 is where the story needs to start moving, now that the set-up is laid out, and volume 5 is where the complications need to have started building -- if they don't, then the whole story arc doesn't, but stays flat. Snooze.

Shigurui - too much random flashbacks...
Samurai Deeper Kyo - it just became really boring after some time
Elfen Lied - really crappy drawings, and too much drama. though i later picked it up again - i skipped a big part of story and just read the last 1 or 2 volumes.
Detroit Metal City - jokes soon became too repetive, plus the incredibly crappy drawings
Drifters - didn't find the plot too interesting, it seems author of hellsing is only able to write mediocre stories

Pastel - the fanservice/romantic-progress ratio was too high. I stuck with it for nearly 100 chapters before I just gave up.

Kare Kano - I know some people think it's great, but I keep bouncing off a wall every time I get past the first volume or so. It just can't seem to sustain my interest, especially since the romantic tension between the first couple was resolved too quickly and the supporting characters which became the focus later were never properly introduced into the story enough to make us care about them early.

You do know that the focus of KareKano does return to being the main couple again later on, yes? (starting around volume 14)

I know... but I can't bring myself to suffer through 12 other volumes just to get back to the main couple. And I don't want to skip ahead, either, so... *shrug*

There are a lot of mangas that I haven't finish reading due to different circumstances: discontinued suddenly, can't find the continuation anywhere, lost interest...

I can't remember the names of the manga that I haven't 'finish' reading. Sometimes, I would continue reading the manga again if the storyline become interesting after a while or when the series ended.

Kobato (by CLAMP). I just can't seem to stand even the first chapter that I read. I deleted it right after that. I just found it... incredibly stupid.

Death Note. The first 40 chapters were great but then the story got too complicated to keep up with.
