Hmm -- Sand Land is a fun romp, but not quite MANLY. I mean, The Kid is actually 500 times older than the ostensible father-figure, so the old guy wasn't exactly raising him. Plus, temporary family. But thanks for the tip for the fun story.

Just saw the summary of Romance Papa. Haven't read it yet but it kinda has the father-daughter theme you're looking for but I'm not sure if it's slice-of-lifeish. The series is complete and it has a couple of ok reviews so that's good enough for me (currently downloading it as of real time).

Hotman completely fits the bill but I'm pretty sure you've read it already so you might just want to try Beelzebub which is semi-shounen/action and definitely not slice-of-lifeish but does involve a cute, naked baby demon perpetually attached to a hot-tempered delinquent

Personally, I would always consider Inoue Takehiko's REAL as one of the manliest manga series around.
But once you conquer the world, then comes the hard part.
What kind of world would you create?

You're right it's not exactly slice-of-life, and the focus is as much on the daughter as on being MANLY, at least based on the first volume, but Romance Papa does seem to fit the bill. In an odd manhwa sort of way. Thanks for the tip!

Is it Chocolate or Chocolat? Since both names are different & both mangas do exist.. & in my case, its Chocolat.

(lol) Yeah, just messing with the "MANLY" phrase since I mentioned that he (the old man) took care of the kiddy demons in his own way. If you enjoyed the "fun & took care of the kiddies" genre, then I should also recommend you to read Cowa (by Akira Toriyama too).

Yeah, and another MANLY chapter that include a young boy tried to be a father-like is in School Rumble Z chapter 4 (although you have to read School Rumble to know who the hell are they..)

& another MANLY movie is about an abandoned baby that being taken care by 3 homeless people - Tokyo Godfather. Well, it may grab your attention.. (Although I haven't watched it myself, yet..)
