Thread: Manga/Anime Endings that have p***ed you off

Have you ever been really into a manga or an anime and you're loving every second of it? Then when you get to the last chapter/episode you just sit there in shock because your life has been ruined? I have.

Full Metal Alchemist was one of my favorite animes ever. I watched it on Toonami every day. I even taped it (this was before DVR) whenever I was going to miss an episode, which is amazing because technology and I don't mix well. Then, the final episode...

Ed is left on the other side of the door with his dad. Al is left with Winry, but still alone. And NOTHING is solved! Al got his body back, but he can't live with his brother? Mayorly T-ed me off.
Then the movie came out and I figured, okay, maybe they'll fix things. Except, they don't! Poor Winry is left all alone and the boys can't use Alchemy at all!

Or, there was this manga I was reading a few weeks ago. I can't remember the name; I think I repressed it out of agony... It's about this powerful gangster and the girl who is in love with him. They go through their trials and tribulations and decide to get married. I get to the final chapter and the girl is waiting at the altar in her dress. The guy is holding the ring and getting out of the car to go meet with her.

Then, this kid who the gangster had tortured earlier in the series shows up, shoots the guy. The guy stumbles into the Church, dies in her arms. End of the series! I cried, because that's what you're supposed to do when that happens, but they were finally getting their happily ever after and then he was killed!


Has this ever happened to you? Please tell me the series so I know to avoid it!

can't think of anything off the top of my head anymore... these ones were obvious though

Suzuka's ending gets a lot of people torqued (didn't make it that far myself).

(I'm trying to think of others, but all I can come up with is ones where they nailed that sucker like a nailed thing, like Azumanga Daioh or Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. Which might be helpful, but is the exact opposite of your request.)

I assume things like the Fruits Basket anime, where they overtook the manga and so had to pull an ending out of someone's ass, don't really count. Since even that one wasn't a travesty -- just made of ass. And the manga nailed it so, so well.

thats the one thats probably pissed me off the most... the series got cut short

School Rumble: great story... had a lot of developments.. and more developments... no conclusion =(
Hikaru no Go: two words: Sai gone
Death note: second half
Mahoromatic anime ending: Manga handled it a LOT better.
Chrno Crusade anime ending: I got a WTF reaction on it. It's a good thing I read the manga. ^^
Minami ke second season: annoying new character. the whole series lost its "light-hearted" fun because of him. =_=
I wanted to add the other series that got cut short but well its not their fault that they had a rush conclusion. =\

@sazny: you should have watch Haruhi by Analogical order not by Chronological order. the ending for that was a lot better.

Even so,I´m gonna reread Chrno Crusade xD

The moment "L" died. The whole Death Note manga went to shit.

As an open Haruhist, I'd have to kill myself for not knowing that. Still, I stand by what I said about being simultaneously bland and epic.

The Ouran Host Club anime ended terribly. It's like they needed more material, but had reached the end of where the published manga was, so they pulled a new ending out of no where and went with it. The manga is so much better!
I agree with a lot of what I'm reading.
Chrono Crusade was excellent until the end.
Death Note, I had to stop watching when the second death note book came out because it just started to get stupid. I didn't even get to L dying.
666 Satan ending seemed like a cop out. "If every single main character dies, then we won't have to write a epilogue chapter explaining what happened to them after they won."
I also agree with the Fruba anime. Beyond the awful dubbing, the ending made me want to tear my hair out. But, the manga made it all better.
Prince of Tennis may have been silly, yes, but what really got me was how every single match was exactly the same with the exact same problems and the exact same wins. And their attempts to throw "new and interesting" characters into the mix just made me want to cry. It's the same reason I stopped reading Naruto... Every battle was the same and the new characters were silly.

I do agree that there are too many animes that were either canceled before they could end. It really bothers me when animes run while the manga series is still being written, thereby making it impossible for the actual ending to occur because when the anime is ready to end, the manga ending hasn't been written yet.

Just some of them:

Kurozuka. What was the point?

School Rumble. So, nothing happens.

Code Geass. Yes, of course. Everyone stops hating each other. Right. I'm sure it works that way.

Trinity Blood anime. Nothing happens.

GTO. I mean, i loved it but the ending disappointed me.

By the way... wasn't there a thread like this already?
