Thread: What are your favorite one shot manga?

I haven't read a lot of one shots, but mine would have to be Hotel, a post global warming apocalypse story about an AI that mankind left behind to manage a giant tower known as the hotel, which stores samples of all non-human life on earth as a monument to what the planet once was, and to mans sin for having destroyed it.

Hmm. I've gotten it down to a couple: "Kagi" by Karin Mochizuki (title story from collection), "Lovers in the Tower that Touches Heaven" by Kayono (from the collection Shinobi no Onna), and "Instinct and a Chromosome" by Akiyama and Okai (a recent Lililicious release, one that reminds me Ebine Yamaji).

wow, neither mt nor lurk got this^^ and the scanlator has no hp^^ where do you got this from?

Oy, when did the scanlators go out of business? To be honest, it's been well over a year since I downloaded it, so I no longer remember where I got Kagi -- I thought from the scanlators themselves, which is no good now. Maybe check around for a torrent, as there may still be one.

They Were Eleven (Moto Hagio) is an excellent retro sci-fi one-shot. The fourth story (if i remember correctly) in Eiichiro Oda's Wanted! volume is memorable as well. For shoiujo, I'd go with The Kidnapping of Minja Jo's Girlfriend. It's silly, funny, and original.

And for futuristic space saga stand-alone chapters, definitely Yukinobu Hoshino's 2001 Nights
