Default Fall 2008 anime - spoilt for choice

*blink* This fall season is going to be an all-out war for viewership, I think. Sorry to be a little late, but T.H.A.T animeblog has come up with the Fall 2008 preview.

So first, we've got a bunch of major sequels: Nodame Cantabile Paris Cut, Gundam 00 Second Season, Vampire Knight Guilty, Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae, Rosario to Vampire Capu 2, Clannad ~After Story~, EF ~ A tale of melodies, Junjou Romantica 2, and another Hokuto no Ken spin-off.

Then we've got major fanbases coming in from manga, light novels and games: Skip Beat!, Toradora, Tales of the Abyss, Kurozuka, Corpse Princess, Kannagi, Tytania... and yes, even Lilo and Stitch turn to anime.

And THEN, we get some really interesting new series which may have potential, like that One Out baseball series, or a whole bunch of top-class seiyuu in the eroge-adaptation Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka, or the modern-day supernatural Yozakura Quartet, or the slice-of-life schoolgirl comedy Hyakko, and the 19th-century England historical fantasy Hakushaku to Yousei. And all of the above only covers two-thirds of the anime that are going to be released this season.

Geh. I'm never going to be able to watch all of this.

Which ones are you planning to watch?

I admit I'm kinda interested in Hyakko, if only to see how much they manage to not rip off Azumanga Diaoh. Otherwise, gah, there's too much to think about.
Today is always the most enjoyable day. Just ask Yotsuba.

Lets see, there's a few I'll be watching and others that I'll just be checking out but in no particular order:

    Casshern SINS
    Toradora
    Kurogane no Linebarrel
    Shikabane Hime: Aka
    Yozakura Shijuusou~Yozakura Quartet~
    Michiko To Hatchin
    Kameko Deluxe
    Kannagi
    Nodame Cantabile Paris-hen
    Tytania

I'm not sure if I'll be able to watch them all or check them all out. There's a few I'm definitely interested in so those are priority and I've still got some other stuff to catch up on. Hopefully I get some time to check them all out.

All three seasons of FMP so far (ie. 52 episodes)? Might as well go read the light novels... they already continue the story.

Anyway, my highest priorities for anime this upcoming season are:

    1) Skip Beat! OMG, Skip Beat - one of the top-ranking shoujo manga in Japan - is coming to anime, under the same studio that made the ARIA series, the director of Princess Tutu and Vampire Knight, and with a strong VA cast too. There's no possible way I can miss this! I can hardly wait. I wonder how many episodes it's going to be? If it's 13, they're not going to hit the Dark Moon arc... but that's one of the best parts. Hopefully it'll be a 24-episode series at least.

    2) Hyakko Yeah, I want to see how well they'll stack up against AzuDai, Minami-ke, Lucky Star and Manabi Straight too. The trailer looks interesting, at least. From what I can see, it seems to be sort of what would happen if Minami Kana became school council president. Which should produce some laughs in its own right.

    3) I'm equally interested in Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka, Kannagi and Hakashaku to Yousei. At least one of them should be able to fulfil my slot for romance anime once Nogizaka Haruka finishes.

    4) Tytania and To Aru Majutsu no Index both sound fairly interesting for a action/adventure sort of plot. Maybe I might watch one of them, if I find the time.

I'll follow Tora Dora via manga and light novels instead. And maybe try One Outs next season, when it's not so crammed full of good anime to watch.

I could be wrong... I'm basing it entirely on the tie-wearing girl's behaviour. But it seems like fun to watch, anyway. Just a little worried about production quality, considering that half the trailer is of coloured sketches rather than detailed animation.

Thanks for the link. From what i see you (or rather we as of now ;P) have the full right to make such an assumption. Especially considering the last scene in that trailer. As for animation quality.... maybe those sketches just served the purpose of creating some kind of atmosphere or something? In any case even if quality is not top-notch i can bare with it as long as series is funny. As was Minami-ke first season.

Yeah, let's hope it turns out well.

On another note, just found Hashihime's fall preview, which provides info on about half a dozen additional series beyond T.H.A.T's one. Most notably Shugo Chara 2, Today in Class 5-2, and a whole bunch of OVAs for various series.
