Why? Possibly because after Grave, you want a pickmeup like Totoro. Or maybe they didn't recognize just HOW depressing Grave is.
Today is always the most enjoyable day. Just ask Yotsuba.

There are more relations between My Neighbor Totoro and Graves of the Firefly than most people would think. Just search it up a little.

The World God Only Knows. Its in onemanga.com and its hella funny. I esp liked the first chapter.
Kurohime and Shina Dark are not bad too. I always liked concepts of demons and gods...

Wolf's Rain, and you better damn well know why.
To Nausicań I agree, but Wolf┤s Rain is, besides that anonym Novel, the only book I ever burnt. (If I just threw it in the trash can, a garbage collector might have seen it)

    masterpieces...
    Anime:
    -Super Dimensional Fortress Macross (1982-1983)
    -Most of Hayao Miyazaki┤s anime
    -Riding Bean (1989)
-Nadia - Secret of Blue Water (1989-1990)(-Island Episodes)
    -Excel Saga (1999-2000)
    -Azumanga Daioh (2002)
    -Witch Hunter Robin (2002)
-Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2002-2003)
    -Onegai Twins (2003)
    -Uninhabited Planet Survive! (2003-2004)
    -Appleseed (2004)
-Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG (2004-2005)
    -Aria the Animation (2005)
    -Blood+ (2005-2006)
    -Aria the Natural (2006)
    -Saiunkoku Monogatari (2006-2007)
-Guardian of the Sacred Spirit/Seirei no Moribito (2007)
    -Lucky Star (2007)
    -Appleseed: Ex Machina (2007)
    -Sola (2007)
    -Saiunkoku Monogatari Second Series (2007-200
    -Spice and Wolf (200
    -Aria the Origination (200
(I didn┤t like all of them, but regard them as masterpieces anyway)

Manga: (only finished [no manhwa and euro-comics sob])
-Urusei Yatsura (1878-1987) (felt like putting something from Rumiko Takahashi in)
-Nausicań of the Valley of the Wind (1982-1994)
    -Ghost in the Shell (1989-1991)
    -Battle Angel Alita (1991-1995)
-The Wings of Vendemiaire (1996-199 (maybe no masterpiece, but I like it and it needs advertisement, only available in japanese and german I think)
-Cardcaptor Sakura (1996-2001) (I think if I had been a little girl, I would have loved it)
    -Aqua-Aria (2001-2002-200
Usually I like mangas better, but I have higher demands caling a manga "masterpiece" and some (hopefully)masterpieces aren┤t finihed yet. (like Last Order, Claymore or Sketchbook)

You need to read Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. It's what Aqua+Aria wants to be when it grows up. (It's also exactly the same length -- 14 volumes.)

(Also, you don't consider Aria the OVA a masterpiece? )

I still just know little about Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (once read ch.1 and put it on the "to read"), but as far as I kno, it has no charming SD picturesat all. How can it be what Aqua+Aria wants to be when it grows up?

Aria Ova... I don┤t know it, and I never heard that many people talk about it (I just know Aria as it was "advertised" in the end of the sketchbook anime)
