(Though that Aria is technically shounen doesn't faze me nearly as much as that Yotsuba&!, which runs in Dengeki Daioh, is also technically shounen. I can understand watching Yotsuba as a form of nostalgia; but do teen boys really like reading about her that much?)
I'm 17. If I lived in Japan I would fall into the shounen demographic. I enjoy reading about Yotsuba because it's cute and amusing.
But still, are you referring to how seinen manga are never written with furigana? Because I'm pretty sure that Yotsuba& is an exception to that.

My recomemdations... I like much more... but here 3 of them. ^__^

    Fairy Tail

Lucy sets out to join the Legenday Mage guild Fairy Tail. Along the way she meets a man professing to be the great fire mage Salamander, however he's a disgusting womanizer. However Luck is on her side, conveniently Natsu shows up looking for a dragon named Igneel, and which allows her to avoid the attention of "Salamander". By a twist of fate Lucy finds out that Salamander is a member of Fairy Tail. Unfortunately she soon finds out that "Salamander" is really nothing more than a terrible criminal. Just as the worst appears to be happening, Natsu shows up, and surprises everyone (Except the reader) by revealing he is in fact the real Salamander.

Fairy tail is written by Mashima Hiro, the same mangaka behind Rave Master. It begins slowly and slowly builds up and introduces new characters. The same slap stick humor which showed up throughout Rave Master appears again in Fair Tail. The characters are are all easily likable and the villains are extremely One Piece reminiscent as they seem to be much more humorous than their Rave Master counterparts. As of so far the Fairy Tail plot has proven itself to be a graduation from Rave Master's endless battle arcs, and delves deeper into character development and background. It makes for a fun easy read, and leaves little possibility of boredom. If you have the free time to read some manga I suggest you check this one out if you haven't. I know I look forward to every new chapter, and I hope you will to.

    Fruits Basket

Fruits Basket follows the life of the student Honda Tohru, who was recently orphaned when her mother, Honda Kyoko, died in a car accident. After that, Tohru lived with her grandfather, but when remodeling is needed on the house, Tohru resorts to living in a tent and holds down a job to support herself. Despite suffering many hardships, Tohru remains optimistic.

One day, Tohru comes upon a house in the forest that she is temporarily living in which is the home of Sohma Shigure and fellow classmate Sohma Yuki, of the Sohma family. When the Sohmas discover that Tohru is living in a tent, they are quite surprised by her inner strength. The entire area is Sohma property, and Tohru pleads to live upon the property in her quaint tent (affectionately dubbed "her castle"). Feeling sorry for her, and desperate to end their days of filthy living conditions, the Sohmas offer her their spare room in exchange for cooking and housework. When her tent is buried that night in a landslide, burying her mother's picture and school clothes, she has no option but to accept. Soon after she moves in, Sohma Kyo comes to challenge Yuki.

Tohru soon discovers the Sohma family's secret, and the reason why Yuki is so private and secretive at school: thirteen members of the family are possessed by the 12 animal spirits of the Chinese Zodiacs ("Jyūnishi" in Japanese) and the spirit of the cat who was left out of the Zodiac according to legend. They transform into animals when hugged by the opposite gender, when they are under a great amount of stress, or weak in any way (such as being sick). When she promises to keep their secret, the Sohmas allow Tohru to keep her memories rather than hypnotically erasing them, a fate that had previously befallen anyone not on the "Inside" of the Sohma family who had discovered the secret.

The story follows the lives of Tohru and the Sohma family, as they deal with each other and a society where neither quite fits in, as well as the feared Sohma Akito, head of the Sohma family. Soon, after living with the Sohma family she began to like, then love all of the Sohmas.

    Vampire Knight

Yuuki's earliest memory is of a stormy winter's night when she was attacked by a vampire...then saved by another. Ten years later, she has now grown up and is a prefect at Kurosu (or Cross) Academy with Zero, a member of a vampire hunter family who were murdered by a vampire. He "protects" Yuki because Kaname, the vampire who saved Yuki all those years ago, cannot. What the rest of the school (or rather, the Day Class) doesn't know is that the elite Night Class is actually an elite class of vampires. The prefects' job is to protect the Day Class from the Night Class. However, there's a lot of untold stories and there's more to just the 3 that we just met. Zero was the only one who survived the attack from the vampire. Why is that? Yuki remembers nothing from her past earlier than the memory from when she was 5. Did something happen? And what on earth is Kaname hiding?

OBS: Cross Academy is attended by two groups of students: the Day Class and the Night Class. At twilight, when the students of the Day Class return to their dorm, they cross paths with the Night Class on their way to school. Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu are the Guardians of the school, there to protect the Day Class from the Academy's dark secret: the Night Class is full of vampires.

Well my recommendation.... maybe Aria? If you've been bored by action manga like naruto or bleach, i think Aria suits you. It's a rather peaceful manga with almost no conflict at all. Aria takes place in a city like Italy's famous city,Venezia, hence the manga's background that reflects the city is very beautiful.

Or you can try fushigi yuugi genbu kaiden. It's like the prequel to manga fushigi yuugi but the story is a lot better and also the graphic is good!
