that is not the only good animated naruto episode.
there is also
epl 30: Sasuke vs Orochimaru
ep. 48: Gaara vs Lee
epl 71: Sandaime vs Shodaime and Nidaime
and more recently with Shippuden
epl 26 Sakura vs Sasori
and just about all the openings for Naruto are really well animated.
hm, I think Soul Eater should be mentioned, even though it's not finished yet.
Time for a bump.

In my opinion I would have to say that really good fight animation would compromise how good animation can go. Cause fight scenes require so much fluid motions in a short instance. Some would be

there are others like naruto, full metal alchemist , and some macross that has vivid fight scenes.
I don't know about Xam'd... Sure, it looks nice, but not exactly unique or groundbreaking. Eve no Jikan however looks fantastic, but no way near perfect.
I am not that fond of computer abuse in the animation, sure it can look nice in rendering or effects, but when there are completely 3D-animated monsters and stuff, I get put off quite easily. That's why I drop so many of the recent action animes. I mean, I still think that the old Kenshin OVAs look amazing.
Hm, maybe you misunderstood my post or I just didn't make it clear. Those aren't what I'd consider the best animation, but imo they're definitely note worthy.
I'd say Xam'd is a bit unique since it does somewhat have it's own style, sure it's Eureka 7's style but that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. It's just like saying Miyazaki's style is unique in it's own way. It's not ground breaking but it's nice, clean, fluid, never confusing and it's solid, unlike a lot of other series. That's something that's pretty hard to do and something that the vast majority of other animes have problems with. Plus the whole look actually complements the story and environment quite well.
Just like all of my other posts in here I've just been naming some that should get some praise.
Lastly, I'm not quite sure what you mean when you mention "computer abuse", since I'm not sure how using 3D animation should be considered abuse. I mean sure sometimes it just looks awkward or doesn't blend in well but that's not always the case. What about the actual drawings being done on computer instead of all being done on paper then scanned in and edited? It just depends on what the person is looking for when making a movie or series or whatever imo. I'm not in favor of 3D animation either, but I wouldn't necessarily call it abuse. Also the only times 3D animation in anime comes to mind for myself in animes that revolves around mechs, unless those are they action series you're looking for?
As far as I noted you didn't explain yourself at all in that post, but I got your point, just said what I thought. I like the style of Xam'd, but it doesn't feel that fantastic. Look at the monsters (forgot the name of them) and they're kind of generic, really. The anime never really puts me into awe, which Miyazaki's earlier movies did, and still do.
When talking about computer abuse I always think of Macross F. Sure it was fast-paced action blabla and stuff, but with all the 3D animation just didn't meld that well with the rest of the animation. It simply looked strange together. It is however true that mostly mecha series have this problem of abuse, or maybe "misuse" is a better word.
And I am a huge Shinkai fan, so saying that I don't like computer graphics in anime at all would be a lie, it just has to be done right and with a sense of moderation. It's like pouring too much spice on your food.
Voices of a distant star, lol.
