Thread: R.I.P., Anime

Because after watching this, I've lost the appetite for anything else. Including KimiKiss and True Tears.

So who's watched this amazing feat of Japanese animation and what was your favourite scene?

For me, it's probably the part where Kanae tries oh so hard to confess but fails because Takaki was being such a douche.

Probably also take a look at it, love dramatic Mangas/anime's. Trailer looks nice, Shame its only 1 hour long according to wiki =/

It's basically 3 OVA's strung together.

But I guarantee you won't be disappointed. The music alone is win.

Sounds interesting, I've been looking for a short but good dramatic series, and this basically fits that description to a tee. Downloading now i'll post what i think about it at a later time.

I've said it before, Shinkai Makoto is the king of animation. I've watched this movie perhaps ten times during the last month since... Well... It's TOO beautiful. And the endings musicvideoishness was a very interesting move, I must say.

My favorite scene is... Well... I think the monologues Takaki (If I remember his name correctly) had towards the end rocked. The rocket launch was also very beautiul and well... Actually I think the entire movie is my favorite scene out of anime history.

I simply can't get enough if this stuff.

Yea. The last anime that really affected me like this was probably...Saikano, but that was almost 2 years ago.

The entire second segment was brilliant. I really felt bad for the girl (Kanae), because she never really found closure.

But I have to say, it's one of the more realistic anime I've watched in quite awhile.

A beautiful anime, but I disklike the lack of closer I was hoping for, in the end the two characters I cared most for, look like a couple of losers hanging on the an empty hope, while the chick from the beginning whom you never really get to know (aside from early letters) moves on and hardly looks back... the animation and color palette are just beatiful though.

If you watch the ending properly (it's a bit confusing, what with the jumping back and forth in time), you'll find that the guy has actually moved on from Akari. The very last scene really drives the point home.

As for Kanae...I would agree that closure isn't provided adequately for her character. I'll have to watch it again, but I don't remember if she was shown in the last part or not.

I know the true ending is when the trains pass and the song and what not is just like a montaqe, even still, him smilling even though she didn't stay to confirm his identity as he did hers just left me, you know... although I just finished watching "Voices of a Distant Star" and it seems it's is his style to leave you hanging just a little bit.
