Default Recommandation for Epic Animes (Action and/or Drama) like..

    Hi, I'm new.

I would like to know some other epic anime movies or anime series like those:

    Code Geass
    Kimi Ga Nozomu Einen
    Jin Roh
    Perfect Blue
    Millenium Actress
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
    Origin
    Mermaid Forest
    Akira
    Serial Experiments Lain
    Tokyo Godfathers
    Princess Mononoke

(I also watched Death Note and Claymore but i rather read the manga counterparts of animes, so please recommend animes which have no manga counterpart they originated from)

    thanks forward ~HO

If you like Akira, keep in mind that the Movie is an extremely condensed and reenvisioning of the book. The story's are scarcely the same.

If I were to recommend you some shows that leave a long term "whoa..." feeling, I'd say...

(Note: I'll update this list as soon as this mental block wears off.)
    Shows:
    Gungrave (Betrayal, Resurrection, Silent Protagonist)
Gundam Wing (note: Wing.) (Political, Imperialism)
Trigun (The manga is completely different) (Humanity from an outsider's point of view. Comedy. Tragedy.)

    Movies:
    Galaxy Express 999 (Sci-Fi Future)
Vampire Hunter D (Hire one to kill one)
Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust (Forlorn Romance and bounty hunters. American produced.)
Ghost In The Shell (I recommend this even more if you dislike the show) (Cyborg future.)
Blood: The Last Vampire (Bloodthirsty, seemingly Vietnam era, Vampire-like creatures in Japan.)

Bah! Sad to say that the best epic stuff are originally manga, mate. Like 20th Century Boys, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and Berserk. But I'll try to help you anyway.

Or maybe not... I've got a hard time thinking of something that isn't originally based on or is a manga. Manga > Anime

I like this list. I'll have to get round to watching Origin and Mermaid Forest some time.
Anywho since you like your Satoshi Kon, I'd recommend a couple of Akiyuki's Shinbo's darker anime: Le Portrait De Petite Cossette, and The Soultaker.

Other anime I think you'd like would be: Giant Robo (OVA), Patlabor the movie, Planetes (It's very different from the manga; you're missing out on something special if you don't see it because of this) and Gankutsuou: The count of monte christo, Read Or Die OVA, Kemonozume and Mai Hime.

    Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
Baccano! (not sure if epic is the word to describe it, but it'll definitely leave a whao feeling)
    Basilisk
    Seirei no Moribito
Last episode of Seto no Hanayome (lol)
And given that you included Kimi ga, I'd recommend ef - a tale of memories. It's still ongoing, but the most recent episode had me with my mouth open the entire time during the last 10 minutes.

Gilgamesh will make you go wtf
You will probably hate Texhnolyze but still think its one the best shows ever.
A Tree of Palme is really weird but really interesting
The 12 Kingdoms might be stretching it. You will definitely like it if you are into Chinese mythology.
TTGL is epic due mainly to the fact that its robots are the size of entire galaxies. Fucking awesome.
The Five Star Stories - Its only an ova but its pretty sweet.
    Revolutionary Girl Utena
Starship Operators - Most realistic space ship battles ever. Seriously, really good

Now and Then, Here and There - It's not for the weak hearted
    Blue Submarine No. 6
    Kino's Journey
Kakurenbo - Its hide and seek
Samurai X: Reflection as well as Trust and Betrayal. Best kenshin stories ever.
The Legend of Black Heaven - Kind of in the same vein as Gurren Lagann in that it takes something and makes it gigantic. In this case, a ship/weapon shaped like a Gibson Flying V, I think.
Galaxy Express 999 anime - If there's anything more epic than a space opera 113 episodes long, tell me and then I will slap you in the face, for there is nothing more epic than this. Especially when you add all the other shows that have been birthed from this series. Maetel Legend, Captain Harlock, Queen Emeraldas, Galaxy Railways. There's probably more, I don't them all.
