The evangelion original ending was weird indeed (and even the alternate endings which came out later were not really clear, but that can also been seen as a good point). Eureka 7 gets quite lame 10 episodes before the end, too , but until then it's really good, especially the art

Umm.... I'm really surprised no one's mentioned Full Metal Panic yet. Admittedly, it's a mix of two genres: high-school love comedy as well as mecha sci-fi, but still... well worth watching for mecha fans.

Soukou no Strain is not bad. Not all that great, but not bad. The best part about it is that people die. A lot of people actually die realistically in war, rather than being invincible.

And I wonder if Mai-Hime can be classified as a mecha anime? If we ignore the first parts, that is. The last half is full of battles between the Childs.

Manga Genre Focus: Romance, Comedy, Slice-of-life. Primarily shounen, then seinen and shoujo.

I actually don't find GS + GSD good at all. Story line is like Gundam Z (my fav Gundam saga), but a lot worst.

It is like 1 Gundam > 100 robots. Mind as well invest the money to make 100 robots into making 1 Gundam and clone the pilot (Those 100 robots are going to get own anyways, mind as well not make them). Battle ships were useless too, mind as well not make them at all. A canon the size of a battle ship can generate less destructive power than a small canon on a Gundam, and these battle ships ALWAYS get own by ONE Gundam. Basicly the authors of the series have control when the Gundam is "untouchable" and when it gets own to "advance" the plot. That's just gay if you ask me. (another serie that pulls stuff out of their ass to make plot twist)

    no flaming please

I would recomand FLCL. Medabot was pretty good too (first season for the anime). Heard from many friends that Code Greass is good, and Evangelion is a must (even with the weird ending)

Only one mention of Tengen Toppa gurren Lagann. Its the best mech anime in years. And one that's often overlooked, Overman King Gainer.

Mai-Hime is a mech anime in much the same way as Simoun is. Only with less yuri.
Today is always the most enjoyable day. Just ask Yotsuba.

You know... I don't get this? I thought the ending of the TV-anime was as clear as can be. It makes perfect sense and I felt really satisfied after watching it. The movie was the thing that made it complicated according to me.

Isn't it nice that Evangelion Rebuild (or whatever the full name is) is coming soon though? That might clear things up a bit (hopefully) if it's the same director. I haven't really bothered checking yet, but from what I've seen it's seems real nice.

EDIT: Yeah, seems like I've been a bit after with the evangelion news. The movie premiered like last month and it's the first of four, for you who don't know. IT hasn't been subbed yet since we'll probably have to wait for a DVD release.

The Evangelion ending gets clear when you read authors note's, only after reading them I actually understood what that series is really about (no, seriously, I thought it was quite simple, but after reading explanations you start to notice some small hints in whole series).

The movie was the ending of TV-anime, I think it's considered as last double episode.
