Thread: Things Not to Recommend

This thread is just for any manga and anime that you wouldn't want people to watch or read. Because there are so many crap that are not worth your or my time, this thread is just here to let people know what not to waster time on.

I will start: School Days. This may be the worst anime I ever watched. It was the most shallow, pointless, and plotless anime I ever seen. All that anime showed was how much that dude was a BA. Also, the characters' personality and interaction were so bad, I stopped watching after 6th episode. Mind you, I never stop watching anime no matter how bad. I even endured through the entire anime of Card Captor Sakura (Don't ask why I was watching this...). But this was beyond horrific.

King of Thorns. The greatest bullshit on earth.

A mangaka destroying his awesome plot. That hurts so much.

Awww, I really like Cardcaptor Sakura. It's not a manga or anime for most people here, but I don't think it's BAD...

I would never recommend most Shinjo Mayu/Kayono/etc. smut manga except for people to see how goddamn bad they are. Desire Climax, for instance, enjoys a popularity that I just cannot understand, and manga like Royal Seventeen make me want to cry with their lack of morals. And Haou Airen, AKuma na Eros, and Love Celeb were just plain stupid. B-Men Kazoku is the only one of that genre that I can read, and that's only because it's short, and so lacking in coherent plot that it's funny. It's so bad it's entertaining. The only one of that genre that I find even remotely entertaining is Love Monster, and that's because it has a plot besides the innocent girl being seduced (and so far, no sex).

You don't think the bondage scenes in Love Monster count as sex? Admittedly, that they went all the way isn't shown, and the shoujo bubbles COULD have been from the bubble bath, but visual subtext is all, man.

You're right that it's the most entertaining of the genre, though, because of its light-hearted silliness.

Well, I haven't read recent chapters of Love Monster. =P And compared to manga like Haou Airen, where they have sex in like... the first book, and make it really obvious, Love Monster is an improvement. I don't really like it, but it could have been way worse.

Samurai Deeper Kyo - the plot is stupid, boring and by trying to be complex - confusing. Moreover the fights, which were fun at beginning, because really dull.

Shaman King - DBZ in Pokemon

...why the hell are you saying don't read dragonball? -.- its the greatest manga series ever.
Anyhow don't read gantz. After 50 chapters i still couldn't get into it. Anyway too much blood and gore for my taste

It's one of the most active sub-forums here for a reason, how can you not like Gantz?

Gantz is good - but I think it's getting too long lately..or maybe it's just release time which makes it so long...

Yeah, Gantz is a pretty good manga. Even if you can't get into it, that doesn't mean it's a bad series.

I agree with Samurai Deeper Kyo, though. It just isn't one of the better shounen series out there, and the characters are annoyingly boring (except for Benitora, who I love and adore, but he's the exception).

I also wouldn't recommend Hayate the Combat Butler. I know some people like it, but I've seen comments that agreed with me about how it just isn't a great series. While it starts off well, it quickly becomes tedious and confusing, with tons of new characters and terrible mini-arcs. The art isn't great, there's too much loli, and it just lost all the humour it used to have. There are plenty of funny series that STAY great, after all. This one failed at it.

Oh, and Black God: There are good seinen series with great plots, but this is not one of them. It doesn't even feel like a seinen series - it's like a boring shounen, to be honest. I can't even remember what I want to criticize about this manga, because it's so uninteresting. The main character, though, is nothing special, which I DO remember, so definitely don't read this looking for a unique hero.

And finally, Dragon Drive. Do you really want to read another story about a worthless slacker with a loser pet which turns out to be unique and superpowerful, and now he has to save the world? Yeah... didn't think so.
