Default Desperate to read something new..

Hiho ^^ im a bit frustrated because i have no idea what to read..I tried several Mangas but stopped reading them quickly. I'm a big Shounen fan and I love character development, fighting and adventures.

    My favourits were:

    Hunter x Hunter
    One Piece
    Fairy Tail
    Dragon Ball
    Naruto
    Bleach
    666 Satan
    Full Metal Alchemist
    Shaman King
    D.Gray-Man

I didn't really like Berserk nor Rurouni Kenshin (they're already strong..need development!! ^^)
I also loved Eyeshield 21 and Prince of Tennis..any Sportsmanga that is as good as those two mentioned?

There are tons of recommendation threads but somehow i couldnt find what i'm looking for =/ sorry for yet another thread..hope you have some advice *bows*

    thanks

Not sure if Black Cat applies... it falls in the same category as Rurouni Kenshin, I think, which the OP said was not what he was looking for. And I disrecommend Air Gear and Tenjou Tenge. OH! Great can draw well, but he can't tell a coherent story to save his life.

Slam Dunk is a good example of sports manga which has character development. Very similar to Eyeshield 21, in a sense that a total newbie gets into the basketball team, with only one thing recommending him - his height and ability to jump.

You might also want to try Kekkaishi. Typical shounen action/adventure manga about a boy and girl, each the respective successors to rival neighbouring clans, who have the same task - guarding the site of an ancient temple from spirits who try to feed on spiritual energy stored there. Of course, it just so happens that the site of the temple happens to be where their school is currently built. Both of them have the same power - that of creating and manipulating kekkai (barriers) which can trap and explode things within them. Most of the fighting revolves around finding new and ingenious uses of kekkai to destroy the spirits. And there is a romantic subtext as well, of course.

Hmm... I'd like to recommend one of Adachi's sports mangas to you, but I can't decide which one would be the best one suited to your tastes. Hmm... okay, try these two first: H2 and Cross Game. They're both about baseball, but coming from different angles. H2 is about a veteran middle-school pitcher who had been under doctor's orders to stop playing baseball in high school... until he discovers the doctor was a quack. Now he's stuck in a high school which has absolutely NO baseball team... and has to struggle to form one to compete in the national tournament. Cross Game is about a newbie pitcher entering high-school baseball to fulfill a childhood friend's dream. H2 is complete, Cross Game is ongoing.

And this is not really shounen, but it's the closest example of a shoujo manga that resembles a shounen action/adventure that I've seen, so it may be interesting. Glass Mask is about Kitajima Maya, a quiet, clumsy girl who loves only one thing - acting. When she is swept away by a famous actress who spots her potential, she begins training to someday play the most difficult role in theater - the Crimson Goddess. Along the way, she gains friends, rivals and a variety of acting skills through taking part in difficult performances and acting competitions. Character development is, of course, much more detailed in a shoujo series than in a shounen one.

Manga Genre Focus: Romance, Comedy, Slice-of-life. Primarily shounen, then seinen and shoujo.

We need to open up a new recommendation thread for you. One that puts Crimson Hero and 7 Seeds at the top of the list.

I don't know... while Crimson Hero does have the element of competition and the gathering together of companions to "fight battles" on the volleyball court, it doesn't have power-ups through gaining new abilities that I notice in Glass Mask. It seemed more focused on the team relationship dynamics than individual power... which is more shoujo than shounen. Haven't read 7 Seeds yet. I'll add that to my list. :P

Rave Master/Groove Adventure Rave - By the same author as Fairy Tail

Katekyo Hitman Reborn/Reborn! - About the mafia it's a comedy manga for a while but once the plot starts it is an even better manga

MX0 - About a boy who enters a magic school unable to use magic

Bitter Virgin - Not what you're looking for at all but it's one of my favorite manga...

Man, how can it be that you dislike Rurouni Kenshin, which I consider the best manga ever?
Anyways, it's your personal opinion (but, if i were you, i'd give it another chance ).

Try NEONGENESIS EVANGELION, though i don't know where could you get it... Anyways, look for it: it's considered one of the best manga of the 90s.
