Good luck finding Galaxy Express anything anywhere. Including the internet. If you're lucky, you'll find a region 2 dvd of the galaxy express 999 movie. Now, for whatever reason, though, Live-evil is subbing GE999. So far they're upto episode 21 out of 100+ episodes. Changing gears now, I feel the flashback arc in last order, with Vilma is probably the best part so far in the semi sequel.
And here I thought 999 was just a single movie.
Actually if you wanna just watch it, you can do it online at http://www.crunchyroll.com People have uploaded the movie and some of the series, and some other Maetel, captain harlock related stuff.
Is it really that hard to find hard copies of it? I walked past a huge, 6+ disc boxset called "the galactic railways" ( I think it was galaxy express series plus one or two remakes/movies) in forbidden planet NYC for $60 just 3 weeks ago. yes, I was lying before.

galactic railways is a somewhat new series. It also takes place in the same universe as Galaxy express 999, maybe a generation or two after it. Also, the fact that its never been released in its entirety stateside in any format, and the company that held its license finally dropped it almost two decades after they initially picked it up, I imagine no one else wants to nab it due to its age and the fact that its 113 episodes long. as kickass as it is, I won't expect it at best buy any time soon.
How can you not believe vilma is the strongest being in the solar system. Everyone is human. More or less. Vilma is the last vampire and she's also the oldest living being in the solar system. Dude, she raised the guy that created panzer kunst. In the terms of the story how hard is it not to believe.

Reason: disbelief of vilma, speling errors
Oh my mistake. I guess I'll just have to watch it on crunchyroll then.
Most of the strong characters in the series aren't physically human apart from their brains, Vilma is fully organic and her maximum destructive power is limited to the length of her chinese swords. Thinking particularly about her low destructive power, I'm unconvinced that she could have won against say- Desty Nova's protege when his brain was implanted into the robot that produced a gas which instantly decomposed anything it touched apart from plasma weapons and himself, or even the space karate master in that capture the flag match.
Granted, Vilma isn't a physically strong character. Assuming anyone could actually hit her she'd be out of it, but she's got some secondary mutation from her vampirism that lets her sense others movements before they make them. We can't forget that she has more fighting experience than all the characters combined.
