Thread: looking for new manga series to read

just finished reading GTO and have to say it is THE best manga i have read to date. im now looking to read a new manga thats on par or better than GTO (if there's such a thing). any suggestions?

i also have read gto. But despite the fact that its one of the most highly recommended mangas ever i just cannot place it in my top list.

You like Berserk? Then definatly read Claymore (i purposely list it first)

For funny stuff take: Yotsubato!, Azumanga Daioh, Welcome to the NHK and Mirai Nikki

Homunculus is the best psychological manga ever so since you liked Battle Royal and GTO, you seems to be interested in psychological stuff too

If you like dramas (since you've read battle royal i assume that you do cuz besides the action, battle royal was pretty dramatical) take Bitter Virgin and the Deep Love trilogy

I can also recommend Eden - its an endless world <-postapocalyptic sci-fi action drama, very good

Sanctuary, Strain and Jiraishin <- those 3 need no further explaination. the artwork alone is enough to make these mangas epic. Plus their good plot, it makes them a must read

You like One Piece? then theres no way around Fairy Tail. The manga is created by the apprentice of Oda. You'll definalty get the One Piece feeling there

Berserk with a black man -> Blaster Knuckle (but of cause berserk is way better)

I would like to recommend Monster but i guess that wont fit in your list It has nothing to do with mystical monsters or supernatural things.

Lulz. while the person above me has recommended some very good mangas, they aren't similar to GTO.

Read Team Medical Dragon dude. It comes very close to being as good as GTO. Then read Moeyo Pen AKA Burning Pen. after that Slam Dunk, rokudenashi blues and shounan junai gumi are also reminiscent of GTO slightly.

Gokusen can be described as "take GTO and replace the teacher with a yakuza leader's daughter." And it would even be pretty close.

Yotsuba&! can be described as "take GTO and replace the teacher with a pre-school kid." That wouldn't be very close at all, though.

well of cause they are licensed, like many mangas.
but nobody said something about beeing legal. there is no need to hide the fact that this and many other manga sites provide us with downloads to licensed mangas.

If i would buy all of the licensed mangas i read right now i would be homeless.
