Default Animes which are better than their corresponding mangas...

Most of the time, the manga far outdoes the anime in terms of quality or so I hear. But every now and then, an anime proves superior to its corresponding manga. Right now, I can think of two:

    Cowboy Bebop
    Gintama

Any more to add to the list?

i asked myself the same question several times.

but i cannot think of any anime thats better than the manga.

anyway you look at it. its nearly impossible to make the anime better then the manga, cause you cannot copie everything a manga imparts.

so even if the anime follows the storyline of the manga like claymore and death note its still not as good as the manga cause some things are always missing. Things twhich an anime cannot convey the meaning of.

and animes like one piece, naruto and gantz fail miseralby in the first place cause of the fillers.

i realy dont think its possible for an anime to be better then its manga

    Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi

but that's only because it's based of the novels, and the manga is based off the anime. even then, the anime gets points for the sound and animation/

    Melody of Oblivion

After I watched anime i simple couldn't read manga - never passed first volume. Anime has entirely different atmosphere from that in manga, and I like anime's version of it much more.

Wolf's Rain is much better as an anime than as a manga.

Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, Ghost in the Shell (movie), and Innocence are all considerably better than the Ghost in the Shell manga.

    Basilisk.

Really no point in reading the manga at all, there's no significant difference.

    Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.
    The mangas sucked...

Nodame Cantabile. The anime has the classical music in the soundtrack while obviously there is no sound in the manga. That alone makes a huge difference in getting the story into its proper mood. Also, the strange girl who's the protagonist supposedly makes strange noises - like mukya, gyabo - that is weird when read, but funny when heard.

Samurai Champloo. It is an anime that was adapted into a manga, but they have different styles of artwork and follow somewhat different storylines. Because the style is supposedly a mix between different cultures like Edo period and hip-hop, the anime does a better job in blending them, thanks to the beat and the rap. You have to imagine the beat and the song in the manga and it doesn't work as well. Plus, the anime does a better job in portraying the relationship between the men and the girl in their journey (it has a longer storyline).

The great majority of anime which were created originally by a studio, then made into a manga afterwards (RahXephon, Wolf's Rain, cowboy bebop, samurai champloo, mai hime, The Big O, FLCL, etc.) are better than the manga based off them.

In addition there are definitely some anime which manage to be as good or better than the manga they are based on. Planetes, GITS:SAC, Keroro Gunso, Ouran Highschool Host Club, Akagi, Outlaw Star, to name some of them.
