Default Controversial and political manga recommendations.

I'm deathly sick of the uncontroversial sissy shonen mangas wich all are about friendship and "an important person" to the sissy protagonist. Even the seinen I've read have all been quite controversy free. They're just gory with a bit of spice(rape).

I'm not asking for the impossible! They don't have to be ultra controversial like pro nazi, but at least some politics... Something like Romper Stomper(the australian movie, with isn't pro nazi, but a bit in the grey zone) would be ideal.

I want drugs, I want misunderstood communist activists, I want something closer our world.

    Is that asking too much?

Well, if you want nazi stuff, read Adolf. It's about three guys with the name Adolf: one being a Jew living in Japan, the other a half German and half Japanese living in Germany, and the last one being Adolf Hitler.

If you want politics then read Eagle - The making of an asian american president. It isn't really sophisticated, but it is an OK political manga, and the English translation is one of the best I've seen.

Also read Say hello to Black Jack. I heard they changed some of the rules concerning health policies in Japan because of the influence of this manga. Don't know if that's true, but it's definitely a good manga.

Yeah I've been thinking about reading adolf for a while, just haven't taken myself the time yet. Guess the art kinda put me of when I started reading it at first, but now I kinda like that kind of style.

Those others sound interresting especially that last one. Gotta check it out.

Excellent. Eden is a masterpiece...it's my second favorite manga. It starts off slow (the first chapter is odd and very different from the rest), but by the end of the third volume, you should be hooked.

Perhaps also Believers, which deal with three cultists living on a lonely island and trying to achieve some sort of nirvana by going through bodily suffering. Unfortunately, the flesh is so very very weak...

I'm not sure whether it falls under controversial or just plain disturbing, though.

Monster so much distrust and murder.
Level E comedy with a very dark humor. Lots of unexpected stuff, that willl only keep you guessing.
Gantz not sure if Gantz will do the trick, cause the protagonist goes like i want to save everyone, but they still get... well use ur imagination. OR read it.
Golden Boy Trust me if your a man, and BE a DAM MAN ABOUT and read this. Theres nothing not to like.
Eternal Sabbath a real mind blower on the human mind, and things that can go about in it.
Shamo the main characters is really under the category of evil in my opinion. This is one of those rare ones where the main character is not toody-good shoes. But man he has lots of mental problems. This is a good fighting series as well.

I was going to suggest Eternal Sabbath and Monster. Add to them 20th Century Boys and Ai-Ren.

Lots of non-political and all-around terrible suggestions in this thread.

Anything by Kaiji Kawaguchi (Zipang, A Spirit of the Sun, Eagle, Silent Service, etc) is good but he tends to inject a lot of fanciful, unrealistic political ideals in his stories. The man does have a good mind for politics however.

National Quiz is a fucking hilarious political satire and totally, wholeheartedly recommended. One of the best manga ever.

Unfortunately most actual political manga are either totally mundane/boring (thus people don't translate them) or overly unrealistic so there's not a lot of great choices.

Apparently I can't post hotlinks yet.
