Heh, well there is no doubt that his style has changed, but thats mainly on the proportions and features of the characters, but this is expected of all the greatest manga artists, the only person i have seen keep their art style constant is Katsuhiro Otomo with Akira, and an example of sombodys art whos has changed would be Miura Kentarou with berserk, comparing his old work to his new, you can see major differences!

But as for Gantz, another main difference in oku's work is the way he draws the shading on faces, he now uses vertical lines, and also the eyes are more realistic opposed to the old manga eyes he used to draw, i believe these are the main factors in the changing of his art.

But then again it could just be the scanslating, Lou Zi Faah, do you have an example of what the problem, i can tell you if its oku or the scanslators that is the problem.

i think he means the editing job of the past ones where its blurry and hurts your eyes.

notice the blurryness, and even the japanese on the right side, proves it is a crap editing job. cant even read the kanji.

while indeed, oku's style has changed over the course of the manga as does every mangaka's style, thats not what this is. its something you notice if you just look at a beginning chapter and then a much later chapter (aka nishi, having died earlier and coming back later after oku's style changed) but it is not something noticed suddenly.

The thread isnt being hijacked, its just developed, and the things mentioned in the other thread just happen to be relevant.

Just have to wait for Lou Zi Faah's reply.

Tetsumaru is right. The picture Tetsumaru posted is a good example. The whole picture is blurry, like liquid. I didnīt know if it "got liquid", when Oku changed his style (=because of the better 3d effect). But now I see, thatīs the scanlations fault: Everything got more plastic, because Oku changed the style. So the quality of the scanlations should be better too. But it isnīt (look at the arm of the right man). So it hurts your eyes. That wouldnīt be a problem if it was an easy drawing style, where is not much too see. But Okuīs draw got more complicated, so you need better scanlations. Hope you understand.

It's weird, I don't think he has changed his entire drawing style, he just changed the way he drew some designs, but the others are still the same...

For example, Nishi seems a bit different, but Katou is the same, and they both returned recently.

That is not Oku's fault. It's clearly the way the scanlators clean up the raw.
I am fortunate in working for a group with high quality raw scanned from tankoubon, but not all raws are great. If you want to see bad ones, check out Mahou Sensei Negima's later chapters. You will see that not all areas that are supposed to be black are black (blotches of white) and some of the tones are not uniform with lots of black dots because of the low printing quality and the low paper quality.

Good raw cleaners take time in adjusting the levels, contrast, blocking the flaws and redrawing some parts. The quick and dirty method is to use filters and as the result, you get blurred images.

Ferthermore you canīt see any details anymore. And Nishi looks like a friendly student now, not like a psycho anymore.
maybe he's tired and taking a break or something, and let other people finish the drawing,

sometimes, manga author let other people do the drawing for the anime, since
they don't have time to do both drawings.

when i first saw 229 i chalked up the differences to scanlation method, but now that it's been mentioned nishi really doesn't look as tough as he used to, and that's kinda a stretch to attribute to scanlators. he's my favorite character, so maybe i was too happy to see him revived to notice
