    Default Samurai Champloo: Gantz Reference

Alright... I noticed this the moment I saw the Baseball episode for SC.

If any of you have seen both anime versions of these series you probably noticed it as well.

In the Gantz anime, everytime a Gantzer died they would show the Gantz ball, fade it to black and white and play a high pitched "ting" sound.

Samurai Champloo baseball episode they did the exact same thing except they would just pan in, create a frame, BnW it and do the ting sound. Funniest episode in Samurai Champloo imo. Great stuff.

    Anyone else notice?

Actually that chime is from a bowl that is usually kept at a shrine for the dead and struck when praying to the desceased. It really has nothing to do with gantz at all, just japanese culture. They use it as a comical way in Shamploo.

And the fading to black and white? Just a big coincidence huh?
