English volumes published?
This is bugging me, when the hell is someone gonna get on and publish this manga in English.? Seems to me like they're just tarting about, it's in French, Spanish, German, Japanese, probably Chinese...why the hell not English? I'm pretty sure America has the best market for manga.....So...where is it?
Does anyone have any news on this.? If it wasn't for fanworks like this, Gantz would be lost to the english speaking public. Probably like 60% of the worlds population speaks English (Fluently)....So, logically you'd think that's where it'd go first.
Anyway, I tend to....No. Always like owning manga. I'm one who believes in supporting the industry. Like music, if everyone stopped buying manga and only downloaded, there wouldn't be money to publish so much new stuff.
Ummm your asking the wrong people, you should take your enquiry to manga publishers...tho i doubt it will get you anywhere.
But yes gantz is also publised in chinese...i have a volume.
I'm from the UK, we provide such a small market for the manga industry that, I believe, it's all published outside the UK (USA) and shipped over. (I'm not sure of this, I know Tokyopop has a UK office though.)
We mainly have tokyopop for that exact reason. Viz is around sometimes, as is ADV, most foreign things are almost impossible to find here. We like our British, British. (WTF?)
Anyway, the point i'm trying to get it, is I wouldn't even know where to start, and being from the UK that might dash any chances of being listened to. Besides tokyopop is the last publisher I want to get their hands on this. They'll put nasty ugly covers on them and I like the look of the original manga. **shrugs** Superficial.
I too am from the uk, so i do understand where you are comming from.
You are correct in saying that they are all publised in the usa, and then shipped into this country via diamond distribution. And im pretty sure the uk office for tokyopop just handles the marketing and distribution, rather than the actual printing/editing.
I also agree with you on tokyo pop on not getting their hands on gantz, mainly because their presentation when it comes to printing mangas leave alot to be desired. If i had to give it to anybody with the little choice out their i would choos viz (they have improved recently) or DMP ...but DMP are way too incosistent with their release of mangas. (im still waiting for worst 4 and iwgp the final issue).
But you really shouldnt complain, 'nor worry about these companies loosing out on money, because truth be told, the best quality and presentation can only be found in the orignal format...or on the internet, done by scanslators that know what the people want.
But i do know how you feel, reading manga on your computer and readiing it in book form whilst laying on your bed or sitting somewhere comfortable...there really is no competition...the only thing that keeps me downloading is the satisfaction my wallet gets from being half full.

I would love them to come out with GANTZ in english in the US, but the one reason I think it will not come out is b/c of volume 11.
Care to elaborate? Is that the massacre?
Weird!!!!!!!! I can't believe what you are saying. I'm from Ecuador (Lost in the center of the world), but here we have a big bookstore called -Mr. Book-, and they sell Mangas. The original Mangas of Gantz and Battle Royale are being sold here, translated into spanish; but they are incomplete (Battle Royale is on the fourth volume, and Gantz on the thirth). Are you completely sure that there is no place in your country where you can find those Mangas???.
Positive! Well not in english anyway.
We have lots of big book stores, and **some** manga. It's just for some reason, no one's taking Gantz. It may be because this it's considered simply to outrageous to publish.....A terrorist attack situation is gonna rub a sore spot on both the UK and US. But then, there are far worse movies come out, it just doesn't add up.
In terms of wallet contence, mines always empty, it likes being that way, honest ¬_¬ But, yes...That's exactly how I feel. Reading scans on the computer defeats the whole idea of a book. I tend to buy stupid amounts of manga on a weekly basis. Like, probably 10-12 volumes, depending what I can find.
I mean, I thought Norwich was pretty good for manga. We have a good lot of manga selling shops. Then i'll go to cambridge and in forbidden Planet....Totally different story, stacks and stacks and stacks and oh look i'm poor in the space of 3.9 seconds...Then at somewhere like expo for example...Manga, manga everywhere. Unfortunatly though, most of it is girly stuff that fails to interest me.
Plus i've never ever even seen, let alone owned a Japanese original. Only things I own in Japanese are artbooks....Oh, and a newtype freebe Zeta Gundam booklet.
