i like the subs better, they tell the story how its meant to be told.
and i just hated the voice actors for the english version of gantz.

i hate when dubs change the story, but if they stick to it or expand it futher then its all for the better. when it comes to dubbing the story's a big factor. there was room for improvement for the voice acting too, i whole-heartedly agree.

would you have chose the dub if they told the story in it's entirety?

I have no problem with either the dub or the sub, but my ADV DVDs are messed up sound-wise, which is most noticable when listening to the opening theme.

If I've got the dub track on, the bass of the music is drowned out and I can barely hear it.

If I've got the sub track on, the bass is cranked up and drowns out everything else in the song.

And there's other differences in sound during the anime between the two voice tracks. So the sound engineers at ADV suck.

sub. american dubbing usually sucks. like 98% of the time. one piece is a great example of that. i would rather read exactly what the characters say than have to listen to some 50 year old guy playing a 16 year old kid, screwing up the translation.

yay! i finally got to watch one of the American Dubs(episode 3) Downloading the rest right now! Shhhh...

    Anyway, my first impression was:

Kurono: Sounded like a pussy ass grandma
    Kato: eh...not too bad
    Kishimoto: alright I guess...
    Nishi: Kinda fits I guess
    The Aliens: perfect.

Anyway I watched some more of it and I guess it's not so hard to get used to the new voices, but the original Japanese ones where awesome IMO.

in the case of gantz. the dubbing did change the story somewhat and thats something i could have done without. now that i think about it, compared to the japanese voice acting. they could have done alot better for kurono, his voice always sounded kinda off. they also edited some of the scenes. even though the voic acting was bad they got the story across and got the job done. so i'm still going to have to go withe the dub.

does anyone know which scenes were changed in the dub? i notice the scene when kurono executed the green giant statue. did anyone notice any other?

other then voice acting, what made everyone pick the sub over the dub?

for me the editing they did to the scenes made me pick the dub. it made the story better and enhanced it visually. the voices definitely could have been better.

what make other people pick dubs over subs?

I found the dubbing in the first disk to suck royally but after awhile, it seems to get better. The japanese actors are a lot better though. When I have to listen to the American dubbers, I end up cringing at the way they protray their characters. They always sound like their acting for an audience that is like 10 years old. Plus they put empthasis on wrong words etc.
