What were you expecting? Oku has to "roleplay", or it will happen the same thing you said about climb/fall's ending.
To make a gross comparison(but one that will ilustrate nicely), it would be like berserker without the eclipse, Griffith and Caska(Oh, and Guts getting raped as child too...).

I saw the entire TV series of Bersek and I loved it!!! but I didn't downloaded the manga yet. But... Gutts was raped as a child??? I always thought that Griffith was the one who had to deal with that kind of crap because he's the beautiful one. Wauuuuuuuuuuuuu That was a surprise ^^. I'm going to read the manga, seems to have many differences with the anime.

And well... about Gantz!!!! I am dying to see the first mission of the Gantzers without Kurono, I think that with Kurono out of Gantz the things could be a little bit more interesting because none of them is a SUPERPOWER boy like Kurono. Kurono was a lot like a super hero and I really loved Gantz because the manga was very human... and showed the worst and the best part of the humanity, but since Kurono turns to a 'super hero' it's not the same.
