Thread: Gantzers on Soldat

I'm not sure if anybody here has played the game soldat (3rd person shooter, think Worms X Quake), but over the past month I've met 6 Gantz fans in-game. which is odd, considering there's rarely more then 60 players online at any given time. whats also odd is the all speak Spanish ^_^;. So any Soldat players from here in the Gantz forums? If you run into "Sarafan","Unin", or "Anonymous", try making a Gantz reference.

Come to think of it, the game combat is very similar to Gantz. only with pixelated gore... and jump-jets...

Yes, I play Soldat sometimes, but It never reminded me of Gantz when I played it, but now when I think about it, you could be right, for example: You can give your Soldat black boots, a black shirt, and so on. Than it looks like the Gantz suit in a way.

You said that it would be for free, but you must register if u want to play in the net (I´m not sure, is that right?), but that costs 9 $.

Nah. It's tottaly free to play. If you dont want to register then you just dont do it.
After registration you get some new options like new interfaces and stuff.

Another bullcrap. Soldat is in 2d not 3d. Simple but meaningful error. :P

I'm hardcore Soldat player for approx 2 years and it too never reminded me of Gnatz... But it's interesting idea.
Soldat is modable, that means you can make new guns (very limited for now ;(), graphics, maps, sounds, and stuff. If you like you can make Gantz mod, and post it here. It would kick ass!!! XD

I wrote 3rd person, not 3d, as opposed to a first person shooter, where you play from you characters perspective. The layout is similar to worms, only real-time, fast paced and frenetic, like Quake

I think you're still wrong. 3rd person is when the camera is directly behind the character you're controlling. Eg, Dynasty warrior, Shadow of the Colossus, Kingdom hearts, Gunz the duel.
1st person is when you're looking though the character's eyes. Eg, counter strike, call of duty, Half life.
Soldat is when you're strolling around like in super mario brothers back in the SNES days and I think thats 2nd person.

I played soldat when I was at a friend's house and it didn't remind me of anything.

hmm... 2nd person, need to google that. never heard of it.

Maybe I`ll do it. I began to make something with computer languages and wanted to make something about Gantz for those who can´t play Gantz:The Game. But don´t wait for it. I´ll post it in this forum first, but if I do, it will take some time, cause I´m still a noob in computer languages. When I´m ready for it, I could need somebody for the Graphic, pictures for the menu and so on. So if anyones interested send me a pm.

Soldat is a fun game, but not really the best for gantz modding. if you just want PvP combat, I suppose gantz would work, but if you want Players Vs Aliens, you might just want to use the quake 3 engine. its easier to import skins and models than it is to mess with soldat trying to import character sprites. plus most of the comments embedded in soldat's coding are in Polish, good luck trying to decipher those, if you dont know exavtly what your doing.

Ok, thanks for information, but I think I won´t use any engine, I´ll make everything on my own. This is more work, but I think I´ll get more experience with computer languages and I need experience!
And it won´t be 3d, it will be in 2d, different from Gantz:The Game.
Look forward for bad graphic, but good gameplay (I hope!!!).
