Am I Heartless? <story spoiler>

g'day all, I'm new here and I thought I'll introduce myself by asking people to rate me as a heartless b@stard or a person with a "different" persepective on Tae's death. I know its been a while since her death but it has really been bugging me that there is a large percentage of people sad with her death while I couldn't be happier.

Before you rate me as a b@stard though, please hear me out with an open mind.

Still with me..cool. Here I go. Firstly, the main response I keep hearing from Tae fans is that she's "different", "you don't her judge by appearance", "What's inside is much more important that Reika's hot body", blah blah blah. I completely agree with all that but it is not the reason why I was happy she was gone. I propose a question to all you Tae fans: does she really deserve our action hero Kurono?

When they met during the alien attack on the school, in Tae's eyes Kurono was fearless, strong and won't just sit there waiting to be killed. In any circumstances, I throught if a guy was willing to risk his life to save a person, that person will unconsciously be drawn to her rescurer. Added to the fact that Tae was never popular with guys,the experience she felt must had been something extrordinary. As a result, I thought it was natural, almost obvious for Tae to fall in love with Kurono. My main argument here is that it could have been anybody that would fall in love with Kurono. It just happened to be Tae.

In Kurono's perspective, he has never really felt love in my opinion. With any of the other gantz females, it was probably more like "lust". With Tae, like most of her fans would support, there's really nothing to "lust" for in terms of her physcial appearance. <I don't mean that in a negative way btw> Throughout the manga, we really didn't see Kurono in any forms of close relationship with a female before meeting Tae. This suggusts to me that for the first time in his life, he has experience companionship with a girl. He had met someone who he could talk to. Again what I'm trying to say is, the girl that Kurono could comfortably talk to just happens to be Tae.If he go out and meet more people, he'll probably realise that Tae was nothing that special.

Did Tae deserve Kurono? Did she do anything noteworthy besides cried a lot and gave Kurono "special service"? Could we have replaced her with any other female character and the manga would feel the same? Perhaps instead of me being happy that Tae is dead, I'm actually happy that the "Kurono's female support role" is over. I know that the role Tae played is vitual for the continuation of the story but it just left me wondering if it could have performed better. That's enough rambling on my behalf, if you're still reading this I thank you for your time. Now rate me as a heartless b@stard or a person with "different" perspective. Again, nice meeting you all.

Edit: I'm also looking for a person who can make me one of those gantz picture in the signature area. Help me if you can please.

I can't say that you are totally wrong but Love is not a thing where terms of "someone deserve someting" cand be used. Yes these closenes were fasterned by the alien attack. But they love each other, Kurono even were going to commit suicide when she dissapeared. If we use cold logic that thats were really stupit since Reika will be just nice replacement. But Kurono does not began to meet Reika all his thougs were centered on returning Tae back. Tae is a good person for Kurono actually Kurono as a really strong person just need that kind of girlfriend, not crazy like Kishimoto or strong like Reika. Kurono and Reika can become really good friends or partners they can even become a lovers but they never can become as close as Kurono and Tae, Since Kurono and Reika are bouth strong and independed persons.

You're no more heartless than I, who jumped up and cheered when she died.

I hated Tae as a character. She and Kurono may have loved each other, but she was damn annoying. She was not interesting. Rather; she was a weak and gullible fool. Plus, she looked like an 8 year old. Reika, on the other hand, is an interesting person. She's very kind, but not to the point of being annoying. She's also far from weak.

Kurono should go with Reika.

Uhh, yeah. She freakin DIED for him. I'm no Tae fan, however the Mangaka has decided that Tae makes Kurono happy, and if you read any of his other works, you'd understand why he brought her back rather then just stick Kurono with Reika (....or Sei... or Kishimoto....)

I guess its true that love isn't "someone deserves another" but i really felt it was such a waste of Kurono's potential... I am also confused by your statement "they never can become as close as Kurono and Tae, Since Kurono and Reika are bouth strong and independed persons.," I always thought that people are drawn together better if they share some values or beliefs. If two people's personalities are polar opposites, unless one/both is very lenient, arguements usually will result. I thought I'll share about this joke on relationships and logic with you:

Smart man + smart woman = romance
smart man + dumb woman = affair
dumb man + smart woman = marriage
dumb man + dumb woman = pregnacy

I believe we are on the same wavelength. At that instance in time I forgave Izumi for killing over god knows how many people and made him my super hero. I also have to agree with Kurono going out with Reika. She should be at least be given a chance considering what she's done to gain Kurono's attention. And I don't mean getting attention like those chicks from other mangas where they just flash their tities/panties/etc. Sacrificing her own freedom for the happiness of Kurono and knowing she will still be just a friend is something that I felt very moving. By the way, how do you get those really cool avatars? <I think thats what you call them. I meant that gantz picture underneath your post...>

How did she died for him? It wasn't like Kurono was under attack and she jumped out to save him was it? <I'm not trying to be sarcastic here, I forgot the actual moment when she died except Izumi stabbed her and Kurono was watching> If she really wanted to "save" him, she should have got her @ss out of the hunting range like the original plan. Knowing that she's safe, Kurono might then kick Izumi's sorry @ss. Unfortunately this did not happen and so I believe her death was just bad luck. Oh yea, what other work has this mangaka do?

Yay. I'm officailly out of newbie status.

LoL. I too am accused of not caring whether she was dead. If you have read some of my other posts I really express my disliking for Tae since she looks like a kid and Kurono can pick somone he has more in common with like Rieka. It's my opinion that Kurono doesn't love Tae but is afraid to be alone. He expressed how much he was sad because he was alone and I think had Sei survived she would be the current Tae. Tae is nothing more than a person who Kurono is trying to hang on too. It does happen in real life mind you so if you are considered a heartless bastard then we will all mostly be considered heartless bastards. I still think that he should trade now and go with Reika which I think is better than Kishimoto.

lol right on. I'm glad I am not the only one who thinks Tae's death was for a "greater cause". I never thought of Sei replacing Tae but now that you mentioned it, I feel the story would be exactly the same. Perhaps at the school instead of watching everyone getting killed, Sei would probably try to at least escape by herself or go get help.
Nicely said. I agree with the bit that Kurono certainly doesn't want to be alone and whether it was true love between him and Tae is debatable I think.

I didn't feel anything when Tae died because:

1. It was a mission from Gantz. But I was surprised it stretched for as long as it did. I mean, you knew she HAD to die in the end or everyone would have lost their points, which would have pissed off alot of readers.

2. When she died, her body was teleported away. I found that very odd and suspicious.

3. She wasn't that great a character overall.

But I am glad she was revived, though Kurono would feel kinda stupid if Gantz orders for her death again.
