I think gantz is the god or something like that lol
Very interesting thread.
I think Gantz represents blind justice. A cold decision machine with a set of rules which take priority over the well being of its puppets - to whom Gantz gave a second life.
What defines good and evil. Intentions ? Results ? Gut feelings? Quite a dilemna.
If Intentions define it, then Gantz is good. Ridding our planets off aliens seems a good thing (in a fascist sort of way).
If Results defines alignement, then Gantz is ... er a bad entity.
- Most Aliens targets were not evil, they were reacting to the slaughter of their brethen or the desecration of their land = 3v1L
- On the other hand, Oni and Tae were truly evil (especially Tae) = BROWNIE POINT
- Vampires haven't been targetted (they are human after all) = EVil
- Let's not forget the casualties of wars here... = eVil
Verditct Gantz = EVIL.
(if Reika dies, OKU = UTMOST EVIL)
And now we're deadlocked... again...
This is my opinion on this.
Gantz represents a defense of the Earth. He is like the Commander of the Alien Defense from Earth. He gets rid of the Alien that are on the planet for some reason, but he is not always justified. An example of him not being fully justified is the Onion Alien. I see the potiental threat of the alien, but if not provoked they would not have harmed anyone. Another one was the bird alien things. They were a lot like the onion alien. Living in peace not harming anyone. When they were provoked they attacked. The Budda statues were provoked when they tried forcing their way into the temple. The Dinosuars were also provoked. The horsemen were provoked. All the aliens that they attacked alll attacked back after they were attacked.
The latest alien are they only one that struck first. The mission in which they were sent to kill Tae was fucked up. Ok, she had evidence that the Gantzers existed, but she would go to Kei considering that she would notice the black suit. Then Kei would tell Tae to get rid of the pictures.
Obviously if Gantz was good, he would have ended their mission to kill Tae when Reika destoyed the film.
Here is the definition of evil from dictionary.com
e·vil ** *P***Pronunciation Key**(vl)
adj. e·vil·er, e·vil·est
Morally bad or wrong; wicked: an evil tyrant.
Causing ruin, injury, or pain; harmful: the evil effects of a poor diet.
Characterized by or indicating future misfortune; ominous: evil omens.
Bad or blameworthy by report; infamous: an evil reputation.
Characterized by anger or spite; malicious: an evil temper.
n.
The quality of being morally bad or wrong; wickedness.
That which causes harm, misfortune, or destruction: a leader's power to do both good and evil.
An evil force, power, or personification.
Something that is a cause or source of suffering, injury, or destruction: the social evils of poverty and injustice.
We all know that Gantz fits most of those definitions, therefore Gantz IS EVIL.
It's logical to try to think of this in terms of the dictionary definition of EVIL. But this goes a little beyond classic evil. Is he only evil because his actions, or are his intentions evil too? That complicates things. He may have good intentions, such as protecting Earth. Most of the important stuff we don't know yet.
Dear cousin choppitychop89, you were a good relative, though I hardly knew ye.
I know what youre saying, but it seems like it's for his own amusement too. Why else would he create clones of dead people, and have them know if they survive that they will live again. He has also sent the teams that he recrutied into the most difficult of situations. How many times has it happend where only a few come back.Originally Posted by Cold-NiTe
Very few. So he must be cruel to a degree. We never see signs of him actually taking pleasure in it. Only during the debriefing, but that's just him laughing at characters. So there is cruelty I guess. To what extent? We don't know.Originally Posted by NEOBLAZE
