    Default Weapon/ Equipment Annoyances

While I really like the whole Gantz storyline and concept, I think the weapons are kinda lame. Don't get me wrong, the weapons designs are pretty cool, but the weapon stats are starting to really bug me. for starters, The damage delay is getting pretty random. The delay worked well when it was constant (in the beginning of the manga, it seemed the lag was about 2 seconds), however now it seems to deal damage anywhere from 5 seconds after being fired to instantly. The Buddha mission had a bunch of examples of this, Kie would shoot at the big statue like 5 times, there would be a small delay, and than their would be 5 synchronized explosions. One could argue this is shown just to fit a comics 2 frame cause and effect sequence, however this occurs in the anime too. Additionally, the mangaka seems to alternate between the guns doing damage to where they were pointed when the triggers were pulled, and the guns doing damage to where they were aimed after the trigger lag had passed (I know I articulated that rather poorly but to get the gist of it, compare how the guns worked in the Buddha mission with how they worked in Kei's solo rooftop fight)

Another qualm is the difference between the pistol like weapons, and the carbine/rifle like weapons. is it just me, or do they do equal damage at an equal rate of fire? the only difference seems to be X-ray attachment verses a digital scope.

The sword also bugs me, a telescoping blade seems too powerful. I think the only reason they where added were since katou was cheated out of a sword fight (Katou picks up one of the statues swords, prepares for what should be awesome combat, gets his arm cut off before he can do anything cool. major disappointment.)

The bike. yeah its not really a weapon per se, however it completely alters the initial impression gantz gives us about the hunts. up till then, hunts were supposed to be a competition between hunters for points. you score the killing blow, you get the points. no assists. yet the bike requires two people, hence cooperation. this changes everything. than again the bikes are essentially useless (the mission areas are 1km by 1km, right?).

There's also that invisibility device. Why aren't people using these in missions anymore? even if there's a time/power limit, that only allows partial use, it still helps avoid stupid things like getting ambushed or surprised by an enemy.

Finally the sender. first of all, why is anybody using anything besides this weapon. so far its pretty much a one hit kill (excluding transforming monsters, then its a two hit kill...) I know that the audience prefers monsters exploding to monsters being sent, but why waste time tiring yourself out fighting a monster with a weapon that only wounds him, when one well aimed shot gets ride of it all together. It even one hit kills bosses. Perhaps the Snare portion of the sender gun may have limited ammunition (1 shot per mission maybe?) However this has not been mentioned in the manga

I don't think the Gantz bike is all about cooperation. One can shoot and still drive. That is possible, even though I think it hasn't happened (I'm not up to chapter 217 yet). About about the 1x1 Km thing, I think it doesn't need to be always that. I think it varies. Think of the Buddha mission. People's heads started exploding pretty close to the temple itself. They didn't need to go too far. That's why I think it's not always that measure.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that not everything needs to be 100% perfect. By now you should know that by reading this story you will hardly get the satisfaction of having everything explained. I think that's exactly the reason why some people like it. You won't have all your explanations. Bizarre things happen, and that's it. I know the story is not over yet... but I can say with enough safety that you won't get all the answers you want in the end.

its so hard to choose, because i like them all the same (except for the sword - that thing defines BA (bad-ass)). But if i had to choose to get rid of one, i'd guess it'd have to be the x-gun. But the least favorite, sender.

I read somewhere that the y-gun (sending gun) gives you less points... it was probably in the Gantz manual.

would that be if you used the sending part or just the tie-down part, or both? can someone clarify that?

Hmmm....Actually isnt this a poll to chose the weapon you DONT like the most?
    For me
Rifle:Until the sniper came around I hated this weapon, now I just hope that another character with same skill will apear...
X-pistol:Too much the same as the rifle...No badassery and regular weapon among gantzers...Yea I hate it
Sender:The most strange weapon around...This weapon dont fit into Gantz so much I think it will play very important role in later in the story...However if Katou will be ressurect,I think it will became his weapon of choice
    Sword:Too badass to hate it

rifle and x-gun is the same thing just ganzt wouldn't be gantz without the gun
i dont thing the sender is that useless or stupid, its just a peaceful and from what we have seen easy way of getting rid of the alien

    hence: the rifle goes

We don't really know if the sender is peacefull or not, all we know is it sends the enemy somewhere. for all we know, they could be teleported to the eternal torture of a black hole's event horizon .
So they call it the Y-gun eh? makes sense to me.

ok, not too sure about the delay, but it's been stated in the manga that the guns can lock onto multiple targets at once. Thus shooting at the targets, then simontaniously (sp?!) detonating them at once. An example of this is the showdown between Kei and Izumi after Izumi is done killing at Shinjuku. Kei is like "top trigger locks on......bottom trigger fires" or something like that.

Well, I'm pretty sure that the rifle does more destructive damage than the handgun. Think all the back to the onion mission. Blondie shoots a rifle at a brick fence thingy, and a big chunk of it is blown up. Then when the teacher shoots the handgun at the Yakuza, only his lower part blows up. Big difference in power there.

    =D
