Default What is Gantz trying to tell us?

Every story have a messenge and from this messenge the reader learn from it. I been reading Gantz for a while and I still dont understand the theme of the story. But in every Gantz's Volume I see this quote: "Before the World was created, the World already existed. The World was the source of life, and this life brought light to mandkind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out".

What do you guys think this quote is trying to say??

that life is something eternal as is the world that has always been, and this life that is a precious light can never cease to exist by the darkness, even though it's always surrounded by it. So maybe it's like... Gantz is giving you more appreciation for your life. Kinda like the movie Saw.

Well... in a sense, Gantz has managed to portray the lighter side of Human kind? I mean... at the start of the manga, the only person who was not a bastard was Katou (and possibly Kishimoto). No one wanted to help the hobo. Heck, even Kurono in the first chapter didn't care if someone died. However, most of the characters managed to develop into a better person, Kurono especially.

The human race is a pathetic race, but even the worst can change for the better?

I dunno... I'm just typing up what I think...

Gantz isn't about showing the good side or the bad side of humans but show humans. The good, the bad, and especially the ugly.

People are getting better and they are getting worse. I guess the only reason why Gantz veterans aren't freaking out like soldiers is that they know they can be resurrected.

or maybe the message is exactly the opposite (being a contradiction, but possibly valid) that isn't so philosophical. Maybe the message is "no message, but for your mindless entertainment, because everything else has a message, why should gantz." It could be almost anything. Maybe the message is personal, so each person takes something different. It goes on forever...

I often see this phrase with a pic. Its a naked kid that is bloody, maybe that will help us to understand. I don`t really know what it means but if the kid is naked it may mean the human himself and how he actually is. someone said gantz shows how humans are: bad, good, and ugly and I think it IS ugly to see bloody children

I've always thought that Gantz contains many similarities with the business world; they are both cutthroat and highly competitive. Gantz could be thought of as a look into how different ethical views - killing is wrong, or should you save someone if you can, etc. - influence people when they are placed in a kill or be killed environment.

It is impossible to tell what the moral of the story will be before the end, but before Katou got revived it did seem that those who didn't primarily look after their own interest died.

Also Nishi showed that even if you're looking out for your own interests, teamwork is still essential, which can definately be said of business also.

I am sure other examples could be found.

Please forgive me if I sound pedantic, but that quote about the "In the Beginning there was the Word..." that's straight out of the bible, the first few verses in the book of John. For some reason "Word" gets engrishized and becomes World.

This in line with the general theme of Gantz and Nishi's webpostings about the coming "apocalypse." Also Jesus says he is the alpha and the omega and also he is the "Word" referred to in John.

But I think someone else posted something like this before, about the theory how Gantz=God. So I'll stop here before I get flamed.

I think the Black Ball(GANTZ) represent the darkness and when this Black Ball shines represent the life that brought light to mandkind. When the Black Ball shines there's still darkness around it. It's really hard to explain. It will be better if I show u a picture of the Black Ball and the reflection of the light shining in the middle of the Black Ball. I hope you guys understand.

I know that the Black Ball represents the quote but I dont know what it means.

    -Black represent Darkness
-The Ball could represent the world.
-When the Black Ball shines represent The source of life shining the Darkness.
