Not really the point of my comment. Sakurai's attack is going to make things worse. He isn't aiming to free captured humans, nor is he trying to cripple their military. He has gone into the middle of the civilian zone and seems pretty keen on pulling an Izumi. Well let's hope that he doesn't.
