Thread: GANTZ "World" Premiere 1.20.2011

It's premiering in the US too, I already got my ticket off Fandango for an 8:30 showing in Lynnwood, WA.

Just saw this tonight. I give it a 3 out of 10. Reading the manga feels more action packed and intense than this. They did a few things right but their's a lot of stuff they could have been done better.

I just saw it and quite enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to the 2nd.

I just downloaded this movie and I loved it. Sadly there wasnt any nudity except a shot of kishimoto's ass. I mean wheres the gratuitous nudity. The Tanaka Alien and buddha missions were crazy. I always thought it would be easy to kill one of those Tanaka Aliens in the anime if I ever saw one but not after seeing this. Good movie cant wait for the next one...wtf at the end

Godspike I just saw your question today but you've seen it now already. I guess what I missed most was the mature elements of the manga like the nudity, gore and violence. Also, Kei's arc in the movie is toned down heavily. In the manga we're introduced to a self-absorbed pervert and jerk who later learns to care more about others, finds love, and becomes an inspiring leader. We see his fear turn into a never give up no matter the odds attitude that uplifts people around him. And that gives us some nice action sequences in the manga.

Now there's no way I expected to see all of that in one movie. But we didn't get that much of it either. There was little point in Tae being in the movie at all and the last mission was toned down and shortened. With what we did get overall, I'd say the movie was okay but the manga and anime were more entertaining for me. Again it's difficult to squeeze things down into a 2 hour long movie but with such an awesome concept and good characters I wanted to see more.

Yeah I feel you on the nudity and the gore. They had no real nudity except for a few shots of kishimoto's ass, but they needed more. I liked the Tanaka Alien cause it didnt move like a guy wearing a suit. They made it move completely alien. Hey what did you think was going on at the end of the movie with katou and in the trailer for perfect answer?
