deus ex machina and the toss away characters
so i'm starting to believe host samurai and the vampires introduced to prolong series but then started to worried he wouldn't be able to sustain so abandoned... hence their mysterious disappearance.
the vampires added little to the story other than created plotholes. the story would lose little by removing the said cannon. i don't really think the series will end with any understanding of the vampires or their placement within the story. a subplot added under minimal consideration to lengthen the general story. the story is about this arc. the build up to this arc. groomed as defenders of the world are the members of gantz. the questions are who groomed them.
sorry wasted. rambling. annoyed by threads stating no-one reads st.

Or perhaps Gantz just realized, hey, those are vampires, and made their heads explode.
That'd make sense.
They only got in by grabbing onto people who were transferring over.
If vampires have nanobots in them, he'd certainly realize that, and not bring them over again.
Plus they had just killed off his two star players, Kurono and Izumi. He had to be pissed off about that.
Its all just a game though, Gantz involved in it. But the vampires had a deal with the aliens or whoever, so they staying out of the game, they just had to take the issue to their boss or whoever.

they're vampires, really?
I like Hikawa and Chiaki as characters I just like to think of them as really unemotional people and block the whole 'vampire' thing out of my head because I can still remember the first time I read that and being like,
"Really... they're vampires, really? That's the direction we are going to go in... Really?
