What i want to know is where Nishi is and what he'll do? Obviously he's cloaked but will he join in the rest to fight or hang back and try to take the kill shot. And where's HS in all this? Wouldn't he have been beamed there too?
    Computer says no... *COUGH*

I hope some giant squishes him good.

I find him a little annoying, especially now that he has the face of a gurl.

Interesting it seems that the mission leader of the Retaliation Team (my term for the guys who just briefed hunters previous chapters) can only use pieces of the suit upgrade. Guess they don't know entirely how to use the Black Ball technology. Or there is a limit to what Gantz could do which is why there was a point system in the first place instead of just equipping hunters with deadly weapons.

Either way, I get the feeling that the Retaliation Team is operating independently of the manufacturers and operators of the Black Ball tech. I also wonder if that was the intention when the operators left their spheres after Rome.

Actually, in the translation I read, the leader that gets the arms says over his mike that the arms are more than enough, suggesting to me that he could have asked for the whole thing but decided to take them on with just the arm upgrades. So I feel that they could have given everybody a full heavy suit but decided not to either because they don't trust everyone with a full heavy suit or they just don't feel like giving anyone beside themselves the good stuff.

Hmmm...possibly. Still the group that's controlling the Spheres right now, what's your take on them? I feel that they are veteran hunters who've managed to spent years in the game figuring out how to set the system up.

They're composed of mostly young adult to middle aged men. Intelligent men actually, not the stupid wankers who we usually see playing this game. Chances are they knew were the first ones in Japan to learn about the Counter. They're the ones that decided to do something about it. I'm even willing to bet they're the reason why people like Nishi and Izumi know about the counter in the first place.

@Red: Personally, I'm not sticking to any one theory, mainly because I just don't have enough information. The current theory I've concocted, however, is that the guys controlling the spheres are actually Japanese military leaders or at least soldiers chosen to lead the Gantzers against the invaders.

Now, there isn't much concrete evidence to support this by any means but it's a theory I'm entertaining until I learn more. What I can say points to this is the ages of the controllers of the spheres. The only real young man in the group is the guy who's currently in the ship with the other Gantzers whereas all the other guys seem to be at least in their thirties, which would certainly fit in with captains or even majors with the older looking men. Not to mention, if they were veterans that lasted long, somebody from the group of hunters would of recognized them, you know? Unless they were all from the same room, which is rather unlikely, somebody would have recognized them as a veteran from their room and called them out. Unless, of course, they killed them which is always a possibility.

Also, as veterans, I doubt they would stay behind and take an officer/tactician role in this war. If they survived this long, they know how to hunt and probably do it really well. That kind of person doesn't fight this war behind a sphere but on the front lines with the grunts, because frankly they are a grunt. These guys are not grunts.

In any case, this is just a theory. Hopefully in the coming months more information will be revealed.
