they didn't die as far as we know. they just haven't appeared in a while

Oku is just going with the stereotype that every veteran is a war junkie. Seriously, can you imagine people like Katou asking for option 2?

Actually I don't think the other gantzers are stupid, just more humane. Killing them on the spot is a true killer mentality; however they decided to keep them around possibly as prisoners, so they're not as callous as the Osaka team.

But if an alien points his finger at you, watch out!

I would just keep one prisoner for some interrogation and researching their weapons and body.
