^ Lol, Shin being an otaku it'd be pretty awesome if he happened to visit said Maid Cafe

@ Dharma; to be fair I just write Shin as I feel on the day and/or base posts on what others have written since my last one, so hes bound to seem a little fly by night

Seeing as its been less than 12 months since Shin graduated, I think we can say he's on his post-grad gap year I've got some plot arcs in my mind for when this hunt is over, but I see Shin as a drifter rather than someone who would settle down...

...so yeah, you could call him a bum, but one thats got a house with no mortgage to worry about, just the elec/water bills... oh, and tax...

I bet people like Darien from Sailor Moon didnt have worries like that being an orphan living in a mansion purely on his inheritance at 17...

I have a different approach to my character it seems. I made a background that does have some detail in it, but otherwise is very open. Partly because at the time I didn't have same some vamp facts and found it best to leave some wiggle room. And because I really didn't want to think it out too much. Leaving it open, gives me room to work things in as I move along.
So this is not really about the background of my character, but more about the character concept.

Tetsuo/the narrative often refers to his vampire side as a demon or monster. I got the idea from a book series I read. Those two books tell a fantasy version of the Beast of Gévaudan story, which is a story about werewolfs (and beasts of various other animal races).
The were-creatures in this story can change their form at will at any time, but are forced to change at the three days of fullmoon. They really have a beast inside them. A different being with it's own conscious. After around a year the human part side is completely gone. Although there are some that don't kill humans and are not evil.

The story takes place in two story lines that change back and forth. One is set in the 18th century at the time of the original murders where the story begins, and the the other is set around the time it ends. The protagonist of the present storyline is an ancestor of the guy that starts it all, and is hunting were-creatures like every other family member before him. Only that he is a werewolf too, born with the demon inside him.
It hasn't however taken him over. He uses drops of gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid to dull the beast enough to be able to hold it with his mind, and has done it for years.
But the beasts haunts him with terrible pictures of times he has failed or made up stuff, and speaks to him (Think I'm gonna do that in the future. but more straight forward than the wacky doctor's voice).

I used that part about him for my character. The training to deal with the urges. A way to keep a hold over the beast, even if in another way, and strenghten it over time. My character has actually trained to prolong the time between meals over time. That combined with the fact that he let's it loose from time to time, strenghten his hold over his urges.
The other thing I used is the fact that it's like a different being. A dark passenger if you will. I realize that a werewolf and a "vampire" made by nanomachines are two different things, but I look at it this way.
I'm not saying vampires have a beast inside them, just that Tetsuo is seeing it that way.
Talking about the dark passenger. You could say Tetsuo's code of killing criminals comes from Dexter. I hadn't however seen the show when I came up with the character.

Really Shin is like an alternate version of me at that age (Im in my mid-twenties). I started rping as myself in Mission 3's beginning then decided to let the events shape the character thereafter. The background for him is very nearly the same as mine, it is only through the rping that he has become something different to how I am.

After being somewhat of a buttmonkey in Mission 3 and a little boy-scoutish (He pretty much was the wimpy otaku that I am then), I decided to make Shin sort of a latent vengeful type, someone who had a lot of feelings pent up that would lead to his Gantz gear corrupting him (as seen in the off-mission, btw, my own father is alive and well and not as estranged as Shins), so I could actually get away from the wimpy otaku persona (to some aspect, he may play tough but he's still a pigeon-chested shorty, just like me )

Everything in Mission 4 is playing up in the most natural way I think I would, to the inner ego within, fronting to pretty Keiko, trying to play the leader and tough guy and getting angry when put down. Yes, Shin is showing his immaturity (and through that, my own in some way) by doing this, but I dont think in anyway he's been really ooc since the beginning of the off-mission and my change of direction for my little "avatar"

Keiko is maybe a little like myself. I mean I am a goth, and I am very forward but I'm not nearly such a bitch.
I'm also not in the least bit fashion minded, whereas I see appearances and clothing being a major part of Keiko's personality. She still wants to make the Gantz suit into some kind of gothic chic clubwear.

Not such a bad idea in a way. Knowing that "being invisible" to people during the hunt, didn't last in the manga. Make the gantz suit "normal" clothes and you won't be stared at once gantz drops the balls on hiding what he's doing. Reika with her fame could've done this.

Of course that's only if people care about people wearing such suits, once they see the aliens. Which is unlikely.

Still, a nice idea. Imagine a vampire walking down the street and attacking someone, because he thought he was a hunter. I wouldn't want that to be me though. It's a little embarassing.

I think Keiko is in the kind of 'I'm young and hot, I'll show it off!' mentality, being half English. So clothes that show off some or most of her nudity are pretty much in her closet anyway. She probably feels more comfortable in the suit than anyone else as she's likely worn much skimpier out to goth clubs.

Mm-hm, Shin is actually very conscious of the Suit himself, but I just havent been able to rp it properly so far. I think it wouldnt be very fitting to just turn around in the battle and have him thinking about now though.
I'll be adding it in when I feel its natural though and I think he'll be wearing a great-coat over his Suit for Mission 5 (he's very concerned about his body-shape being exposed rather than the actual weird look of the Suit). I'm sure it'll be a relief to him when this hunt is over and he can get his normal street-wear back on (the only reason he took that off was he didnt want it wrecked in the hunt, he'll have an old coat for Mission 5).
