Everything outside the room had been blurry so far. She remembered being walked home by Dino and Tomoe the night before. She had stood there at the entrance to the apartment building she lived in, staring at Tomoe for several awkward moments, unsure if or what she wanted to tell her, until Dino said his goodbye and Naomi had literally run inside.
Judging by how tired she felt, she hadn't slept too much, probably pondering about the mission and dreaming of the dead Koi and a dead girl when she finally fell asleep. But she didn't know for sure. It was gone like a boring, boring...
A hand softly tapped onto her desk and she quivered, as if it had been slammed down, and looked up.
"Am I boring you again, Miss Kimamoto?", Mister Urashima, her history teacher asked. The whole class was looking at her. Some of her classmates, mostly the boys, were snickering at her blank expression.
"Um... No... O- of course not", she replied after she remembered how to talk.
"Well, could you please tell the class what we were talking about, then?"
"The... Tokugawa period?" It was the only thing she had subconsciously filtered out of his flood of words.
He raised an eyebrow, making it obvious that it was wrong, and some of the boys chuckled even louder.
"I don't know what has happened to you a couple of weeks ago. But if you're this negligent in every subject, you should consider a talk with your homeroom teacher."
"I understand", Naomi said, looking down.
He nodded, turned around, putting the other students to silence. But there was something missing you would expect: Naomi lacked the feeling of unease and shame that was usually part of an experience as such. She just didn't care enough about the rest of the class or the teacher or school in general to worry about any of it. She felt more alien towards the people around her than ever before.
And there were three things she couldn't get out of her head: The room, where she was brutal, wanted to kill and had to kill in order to survive; Tomoe, the only person who really seemed to care about her, the only human being she could fully trust right now; and the burning wish deep inside her to take revenge on her violators.
But the world around her was unaware of this and the lessons just flew by, leaving her undisturbed in her mental absence...
