Thread: Gantz Mission 3: Aftermath

Shin's memory of what happened;

Shin was at the canal edge ready to make the jump into the scrap ahead. It was the first time he ever saw anything like this, a mask just floating there in the water. He checked the big weapon he took from the ball and the little three-barreled one and seeing the Big Daddy using the black suit to cross the canal decided to do the same. Taking the jump he missed by a wide margin and fell into the canal. Picking himself he mumbled; "Great, now what?"

Suddenly he found that he was being brought back into the room. The others were too, but less this time round than before, he looked around; Big Daddy, Tomoe, Big Guy, the Yankii and the Kid, Tsundere and Sean-kun. Shin was worried at these turn of events but decided to stay quiet. Maybe Big Daddy, Tomoe or Tsundere would mention what happened, why they were called back before Shin could use all the stuff he was given.

It was clear that somehow his memories had been wiped, some were mentioning how the second Yankii boy was killed but he was with Sean-kun jumping the canal last time he saw, that was less than a minute ago. He backed away from everyone and sat by the window cross-legged on the floor as he watched the Big Guy fight with the two girls. Shin was angry at how the Big Guy was talking to Tomoe, but he had a point about her not telling everyone a bit more about what was going on. At least he could get back home and see Emi by the way everyone was talking... at this point Shin took a little glance at Tsundere as she stood next to Tomoe and turned the Big Guy out. He felt something different, stronger for her than he did earlier...

Well, everyone had quieted down now so Shin put a hand up and called out;
"Excuse me, why cant I remember half of what youre saying? That kid youre on about was ok a few seconds ago..."

Andre can hear the words of distrust that are obviously being spoken in his direction. He can feel the resonance of detestation. Andre can feel the piercing eyes on him, but he doesn't even bother to look up. Instead Andre just stares at the reflection of the rooms light on the floor and lets the ataractic glare settle his mind. Andre begins to softly chant some words from the chous of Aiko's Lullaby and continues to tap the sword's kashira on the floor hoping Naomi would hear it. Overall Andre is a nice guy but he's still an assh_le.

Dino heard what one of the other losing their memories. It didn't worry him as It was somehow a typical thing to expect for one or a few of them to lose their memories. He didn't know why it happens but i does and that was a fact. No explanations given, no expectations expected... that was life with the black ball. For the new guy... that's all he'd be getting too.

"Shit happens,... you lose your memories sometimes when you cross back. The kid died that's all you need to know." replied Dino.

Shin grumbled at the lack of an explanation, some people seemed to be wondering what was going on too, but they seemed to have wipes at different times. Shin felt a growing anger that his mind had been messed with. He hated hypnotists for the same reason and always felt his mind was his own, his one possession no-one should wreck.

Shin looked down at the ygun in his hand and at the scene of anger infront of him. Shin sighed, he did not want to do this again. Could he really go home now or was he going to be sent on another one of these "quantum leaps"?

Shin watched over everyone, Big Daddy infront of him playing the strong silent guy, the other Big Guy sweating with his sword from beng chewed up by the two girls... not so tough now, huh?, the two highschoolers sharing a smoke and Sean-kun had walked out.

Shin took another sigh. Big Daddy wouldnt be talking and he didnt really want to try talking to the women and the highschoolers... they were the same as him for all he knew. Shin holstered up his gear and walked into the hallway where he found Sean-kun sat in a ball. Shin squatted down and sat next to him putting his back against the wall so he would be comfortable.

"Things're messed up huh? They're saying we can go home after points are awarded or something, but Tomoe said if she, the Tsundere girl and that Big leader guy dont enough, they could die, but we're ok. I think I'm just going to sit here with you for a while."

Shin put a hand over his forehead and started to stare at the floor.

Sean couldn't help but think about what happened; to him it all seemed surreal. Sean tried to make sense out of everything that happened but it only made his head hurt. He could hear an argument going on in the next room but he couldn't tell who it was. As Sean continued to mull over what happened Shin walks into the hallway, sits down and tries to make small conversation.

"Yea I know; Scary girl(Naomi) filled me in on their problem. Wait a minute did you say points......we risked our lives for STUPID FUCKIN POINTS!! AND WHAT THE FUCK ARE THESE POINTS FOR ANYWAY....wait a minute why am I yelling for anyway. No sense in being mad; at least were alive and those aliens are dead. So the question is what happens now???".

The idea that he survived the best way he could makes Sean feel alittle better. He continues to sit down with Shin wondering what was going to happen next.

Takezo heard Sean screaming away about points from the other side of the room. He found it quite funny that he started laughing. I must been strange to the others to see him laughing after all that had happened but Takezo didn't care. He knew things weren't going to be easy for the veterans now that the others were starting to question it all; the whole purpose of the fighting and killing. For now he wanted to wait and see what these 'points' were all about and perhaps if he would get any.

He took another puff from his cigarette and continued studying the others all while planing how to take down the veteran by a notch.

"Yea I know; Scary girl(Naomi) filled me in on their problem. Wait a minute did you say points......we risked our lives for STUPID ------ POINTS!! AND WHAT THE ---- ARE THESE POINTS FOR ANYWAY....wait a minute why am I yelling for anyway. No sense in being mad; at least were alive and those aliens are dead. So the question is what happens now???".

"You got me," Shin started, "I'm guessing these points are pretty important to the vets if they need a certain number to walk out of here. I still dont get why we dont need points for being new, ugh, I got a sick feeling in my stomach, I cant even remember what happened but from what I do, I screwed up bad. I dont think I can do this on a commision basis with my life on the line..."

Sweat started to eke its way down Shin's forehead as panic filled his throat, making him stutter.

"W..Why are we d...doing t...this a...anyway? I NEVER CHOSE THIS!!! AS FAR AS I KNOW I COULD BE DEAD AND ALL THIS IS MY "JACOB'S LADDER"! AHH, I WANNA GO HOME!!!"

Shin hunches over on the floor and pounds his two fists down into the ground as tears pour from his eyes. He hadnt felt this helpless since home-nursing his mother when she had a brain tumor. He normally would hide his emotions infront of others but he knew Sean-kun was in this with him and he didnt know what else he could right now.

Andre heard Shin talking about points and he started to get angry again. It made him stop tapping and he started listening. What the hell is HE talking about!?! When all the insanity started Andre wasn't in the main room, the room with the ball. He never heard about points and the consequences not getting any. This whole thing was a game, the most heinous game anyone could of ever imagined. Andre didn't even known he'd be recalled to the room again and again if he survived. A feeling of sickness came over him. Now he understood why the others were acting as they were. It was all making sense if that's even possible. Andre wants to speak out but he's already said enough, plus the anticipation of the moment makes the words get stuck in his throat. He might be watching the last moments of one of their lives.

Andre isn't sure what to expect so he keeps his hand on the sword in case the situation gets unstable.

As the anxious players wait on, a strange sound starts emanating from the black ball when suddenly the screen on the ball flickers on;

First a single message appears: T1M3 t0 sh4r3 th3 p0Intz

A small, caricature of Naomi then appears on the screen with the name 'Angry bitch':

After another 10 seconds, the ball powers down. The players in the room hear an audible 'click' as the front door is unlocked.

Shin pops his head up as he hears the sound of a microwave finishing coming from the main room of the apartment. He rubs the tears from his eyes and looks to Sean with a look to say; "What was that?" There is silence coming from the room.

Shin's brow furrows and he picks himself up from the floor and slowly walks back to the main room and peers his head to watch what happened. He sees the three vets, the two high schoolers and the Big Guy stood around the ball, watching it. It looked like there was something on the screen.

As Shin got closer he just saw on the ball's screen for a second the "Boy Scout" avatar and score result. Looking below the pic he noticed "Total: 17 points, 83 points to go..." Shin wondered how he got the points and the large number that still needed to be achieved. Shin's stomach turned at the sight.

Next came Shin's result. Shin was a little surprised. "Otaku Boy? 0 points, l355 thinking about anim3 and manga? What the...?" A frown formed on Shin's face as he realised he would be coming here many, many times to get 100 points.

He soon cheered up when the Big Guy's result came up and he let a little grin slip towards the large man. He was less thrilled at the second high schooler's result.

"0 points, 5moking Kills? Is this thing punking us, that aint funny" Shin let out as he turned to see the Yankii puffing on a cigarette. Shin turned back to the screen showing a crudely drawn pic of the Yankii with a cig in his mouth and fell silent as the ball's screen went blank and humming died down.

Shin stood in silence when his ears piqued up at the sound of the door in the hall unlocking. He turns to Tomoe and asks "We can go now?"
