A quick question. Does the character background when creating a character have any influence on the starting stats of a player. Because that's one thing I never liked.

It's normal for ordinary RPG's that play in monster infested fantasy worlds to have that. But Gantz is a GPR set in the real world with normal characters that know nothing about what they will go through.

Sadly every second player in the other RPG's tries to gives his character a little head start by adding some kind of fighting background.
Not that I blame them (it's tempting to do it), but I never really liked it. It's just not realistic that almost everyone can either handle a gun or is adapt in hand to hand combat.
Just look at angryman's character Dino. An ex mafia killer that now teaches at a military base (something like that if I remember correctly). You can't give your charcter a better head start than this.

Not that that RPG isn't great, but I'd also like to read an rpg were not everyone was in a karate club prior to becoming a Gantzer. Just normal people thrown into the meat grinder and hell that is Gantz and that will grow with time and experience.
"For Feanor was made the mightiest in all parts of body and mind, in valour, in endurance, in beauty, in understanding, in skill, in strength and subtlety alike, of all the Children of Illuvatar, and a bright flame was in him"

In the final version the stats will be more influenced on the characters makeup.I just needed to see the engine in action here. Having a background will influence the outer ring diameter as well as the amount you get in any one particular stat.

Question; will you be having Vampires as a later PC type? I would definetely like to RP as a HS-type kinda guy after these playtest hunts. Plus I see Vampires can recurr in other hunts, be baddies or even join the hunters like HS and Kill Bill.

Well Vampires would only be aloud to use swords and vitality since there's no stat for trying to look cool . I'd estimate a vampire is 5 times as strong as a human so they'd have a V at 500.

You know anyone can jump in GWT anytime. If you create a vampire profile stats I'll assign what me and Mongo developed for the sword. it has a specific range for the index to be successful.

In my old rp, Vampires had the same HP as humans (they only seem to be able to regenerate (see below), not be more tough than humans as Izumi shown in his many scraps with them, though they did seem to feel pain less, though thats pretty moot for an rp like this).

They did in my RP have a heavy boost to their physical stats apart from that though, so I'm not sure how you would deal with that in their profile
(I would suggest they have a feature where they can regenerate 1V per cycle, up to max V, unless the hit did more than a 1/5 V in damage, representing where a limb is removed or where shock would set in for a human, not sure how you'd balance that though).

Daylight would be a weakness, though not sure how you'd use that and keep the vamps playable.
I suppose that having their special shades as an item thats breakable (like the gantz suits) is another weakness, though Vampires have enhanced hearing that can hear the Gantzers as normal. Of course, this works only if the invisibility rules are in effect.

If you're making the Vampires close to aliens, I'd say have S1 for their handswords and S2 for their handguns.

Hope all this helps in making Vampire characters.

    Double post, sorry but its a new point;

I've noticed that alot of the gantzers attack the aliens two-on-one and up, so can players defend against more than one attack if they havent already posted before the second+ attacks?

One action that uses a stat per/cycle for anyone until you get 20K then and only then can you do combos . Two actions per cycle then is ok too.

About dismemberment. I thought one successful single attack of 100pts would do it. Not two ppl with 50 or four people with 25. At that requirement not everyone would go around trying to rip each others heads off. Of course 50pts with an index off .90 would do it too.

Jack points his weapon at the alien's head and fires. (100X:dJ)
