Welcome to the Gantz World Tour (GWT) RPG Manual Alpha version.
This is a dynamic role-playing experience I created based on the Gantz universe created by Oku Hiroya. Once the rules are set in motion it can run with minimal effort from any one participant. The goal was to create a new level of transparent game play for GM and players and to kill my boredom. It only requires people post content to keep things moving. As with any RPG your experience is up to you. The Alpha will start on 2/28/09. Everything is based on the principles of risk vs reward. No action/s can take place without consequences of said action/s just like in life. By utilizing the various indices of the US stock market will make all this possible. There are plenty of dynamic random numbers which can determine the outcome of action/s and even do scoring. For the experiment we will use. The DOW Jones Industrial Average (referred to from here on as (dJ) The NASDAQ (referred to from here on as (NQ) The S&P (referred to from here on as (SP) The DowJones Wilshire 5000 (referred to from here on as (W5) The Russell 2000 (referred to from here on as (R2) Others will be used if demand requires it. http://money.cnn.com/data/markets/dow/ We are only interested in the fractional portion of the index at this time. 00000.XX where XX marks the spot. .00 - .19 = complete failure double pts loss. (Inaba) .20 - .49 = action but no points gain. (Old Man) .50 - .89 = action with normal points gain. (Kaze) .90 - .99 = action with twice the points gain. (Izumi) For the sake of the experiment RPG concepts in principle will remain though GWT is quite unconventional. Key differences: No pre hunt stuff yet, just create a Gantzer/Alien in the GWT OOC, wait for your assigned index and pick a picture then jump right in hunt like Gantz Chapter 290. YOU post the outcome of YOUR OWN actions based on the numbers. Not me. The GM here means General Manager/Game Management and will provide indices, maps etc. (though anyone playing in GWT can) GTW is meant to be fast passed with updates available every business day. An active user can benefit from their activity while a skillful player can pull off a Nishi and steal a kill. Let's get started shall we. GWT:CYCLE: A cycle is the period between updates. For the Alpha experiment there will be a Cycle every other day (though the final goal is the next available business day) . One Action per post. One post per cycle. The cut off time will be 3:00PM est. the day of the Cycle's end. Anything posted after that will fall under the next Cycle. GWT:MAPS: We will use Google Maps for hunt maps. The location to be determined by what ever city is featured on CNNs World News website under Top World Stories one day before a hunt starts. http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/. If the city isn't in an urban setting, the next available interesting city will be chosen. For navigation orientation use compass directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW) in your post. Use blocks to gauge your distance where applicable. You can move 4 blocks by jumping, two blocks by running and one block by walking per post. Jumps will require actions as will running while utilizing the suit. GWT:GANTZERS: First you'll need to create a character. For the purpose of the experiment only the basics are needed because you'll be playing as the average Joe Gantzer. Not a Nerdo or Kurono. But you can be. Use the form: Name: <last name>, ''<nickname given by GWT during scoring>'', first name Age: - Sex: M/F Height: - Your countries standard. Weight: - Your countries standard. Bust size: - for ladies only Race - Country - Where you come from. Occupation - Cause of Death: - Index - YOU NEED TO HAVE AN INDEX ASSIGNED TO YOU BEFORE YOU JOIN A HUNT! GWT:GANTZER:IMAGE: You can choose an image for your Gantzer from the GWT Memory to be used for your profile and in scoring. Use row and column to indicate which Gantzer you are. You'll get a link to complete your stats. ![]() Name: Anderson, ? , Jack Age: 17 Sex: M Height: 5' - 11” Weight: 165 lbs Race: White Country: USA, Asbury Park, NJ Occupation: H.S. Student 12th grade Cause of Death: car crash Index: ?? Picture: (row3,col16) GWT:INDICES: You can not jump into a hunt until you are assigned an index. For the GWT Alpha experiment we will use. The DOW Jones Industrial Average referred to from here on as (dJ) The NASDAQ referred to from here on as (NQ) The S&P referred to from here on as (SP) The DowJones Wilshire 5000 referred to from here on as (D5) The Russell 2000 referred to from here on as (R2) NYSE Composite Index New referred to from here on as (NC) Others will be used if demand requires it. http://money.cnn.com/data/us_markets/index.html We are only interested in the fractional portion of the index used. 00000.XX where XX marks the spot. GWT:INDICES:SECONDARY: The secondary index number here is your assigned indices's change number. Your index's change number can be found to the far right of your assigned index. It's the number in red or green to the left. We are only interested in the fractional portion of the assigned indices's change. 00000.XX where XX marks the spot. GWT:IMAGE: (row3,col16) ![]() GWT:GANTZER:STATS: Stats are the equipment needed to do battle. For the sake of the experiment each Gantzer will use 5 stats. Others can be added later. Gantzer stats will appear in the form of a stat line [##V:##S:##X:##Y:##K##] The stat line MUST appear at the very end of each of your post. GWT:GANTZER:STATS:EXPLAINED: ##V = Vitality is your health. Also used for hand to hand combat and physical task. ##S = Suit efficiency. Used for enhanced physical task. ##X = X-gun pts. for an X-weapon. Used to blast Aliens, Gantzers or objects. ##Y = Y-gun pts. Used to hold an send Aliens. ##K## = Successful in hunt Actions ## followed by the GWT accumulated total ##. (Successful in hunt Actions + your accumulated total = your K) For the experiment you will be playing the role of an average Joe Gantzer. Not a superstar like Kurono or a tool like Inaba. All Gantzers will start a hunt with 100 V pts. New Gantzers will always start a hunt with 100 S pts. New Gantzers will always start a hunt with 60 X pts. New Gantzers will always start a hunt with 40 Y pts. All Gantzers will start with 0 in hunt strikes (K) Vets of GWT will start a hunt with these stats plus S,X,Y, K from their previous hunts. *tip: noobs just copy and past this stat line. [100V:50S:60X:40Y:0K0] So Jack's in hunt state at this time will be: Jack. [100V:100S:60X:40Y:0K0] GWT:ACTIONS:HOW YOU GET THINGS DONE: Anything that would require the use of a stat requires an Action. Doing what a normal person could do requires a post but not an Action. Just do it. To elicit an Action use one of these forms: Statement (amount risked:index) Stat line. Or statement (amount risked:index) Stat line. GWT:ACTION:STATEMENT: The statement must clearly state who you are, what you're attempting, and the target of your intent. From this statement you'll know what stat to use. GWT:ACTION:AMOUNT RISKED: The amount of points you want to put in play and from what stat. GWT:SUCCESS AND FAILURE: In order for an Action to succeed your assigned index must be ≥ .50 More specifically: .00 - .19 = complete failure double pts loss. .20 - .49 = Action but no damage. .50 - .89 = Action and full damage. .90 - .99 = Action and twice the damage. GWT DAMAGE MULTIPLIERS: (M) The total amount of damage you inflict depends on your multiplier. Here total K is in hunt K plus GWT accumulated K. K 00 - 19 = 1 K 20 - 49 = 2 K 50 - 89 = 3 K 90 - 99 = 4 GWT:SUCCESSFUL ACTIONS: The risked amount will be added to your Action stat and the total amount of damage will be subtracted from your target''s Vitality. You can also add 1 to your in hunt K. GWT:UNSUCCESSFUL ACTIONS: The risked amount is subtract from your Action stat. If your Action stat reaches zero the the remainder is subtracted from your V stat. If your V stat reaches zero, “DING!” your game is over. (more on that later) GWT:STATS:ACTIONS: In order to know what actions you can take you need to review your Vitality stat. 00 – 09 Fetal:You're near death and can't move or attack but you can talk and cry like Nishi. 10 - 19 Baby:You can only crawl and not attack. 20 - 29 Crippled:You can walk but not run. You can attack with your weapons only. 30 - 39 Beaten:You're just banged up. No major damage. 40 - 49 Scratched: You've been hit but you kinda like it. 50 – 100 Full tilt baby. GWT:GANTZERS:VITALITY: Vitality Actions can be used to inflict physical damage on Gantzers, Aliens and Objects. As long as you can meet the 2pt. minimum there are no other restrictions on the amount you can risk. Use it for hand to hand combat and light physical task. Punching, kicking, head butting, choking and holding are all valid uses of Vitality if S is 0 or to rescue . Damage Multipliers do not apply. Jack clinches his fist and throws a punch. (2V:dJ) [100V:00S:60X:40Y:0K] GWT:GANTZERS:VITALITY:RESCUE: You can pick up and carry a fallen Gantzer but it'll cost you 2V pts. Do so in the form: No index required. Jack bends down and picks up Jill. (-2V) [98V:00S:60X:40Y:0K] GWT:GANTZER:SUIT: Suit Actions can be used to directly inflict physical damage on Gantzers, Aliens and Objects. Suit Actions can also be used for enhanced physical acts like jumps*, picking up heavy objects and throwing Medium objects*. There's a 5pt.minimum to use a Suit Action. Damage is twice the amount risked not including multipliers. Damage Multipliers do apply where applicable. GWT:GANTZER:SUIT:NON COMBAT: When the Suit is used for jumps, lifting grabbing/picking up and throwing only the 5pt.minimum is required. Multipliers do not apply. These actions have no impact on the targets vitality but will allow you to attempt another action. In order to throw you must first execute a successful grab/pick up. A grabbed opponent can't take any actions for one cycle. Jack tries jump across the building. (5S:dJ) [98V:100S:60X:40Y:0K] Jack tries to pick up the car. (5S:dJ) [98V:100S:60X:40Y:0K] Jack tries to grab the alien from behind. (5S:dJ) [98V:100S:60X:40Y:0K] GWT:GANTZER:SUIT:COMBAT: When the Suit is used for hand to hand combat the is no maximum only the 5pt.minimum here. Multipliers apply. Jack throws a wheel kick. (5S:dJ) [98V:100S:60X:40Y:0K] GWT:GANTZERS:X ACTIONS: X Actions are needed to use the X-gun/X-rifle. You use the X weapons to blast Gantzers, Aliens and Objects. It takes 5pts or more to use the X-gun. Risk amount must be in increments of 5pts. It takes 10pts or more to use the X-rifle. Risk amount must be in increments of 10pts. if you have two X-weapons you can shoot twice in one Action.* GWT:GANTZERS:Y ACTIONS: Y Actions are needed to use the Y-gun. You can use the Y-gun to hold Gantzers or Aliens. An Alien must first be held in order to send it. It takes 10pts to hold or send. Only one Y-gun per Gantzer One Y Action per day. GANTZER:X ACTION:X-WEAPONS: The X-gun is used for short range blast. The X-rifle is used for short and long range blast You decide which you when you start a hunt. Reflect your choice in the stat line: X = X-gun and Xr = X-rifle. There are two ways to get a second X- weapon, for another Gantzer to give you theirs or by picking up the weapon of a fallen Gantzer. Damage Multipliers apply. Jack pulls out the X-gun and fires at the alien. (5X:dJ) [98V:100S:60X:40Y:0K] GWT:GANTZER:Y ACTION:Y-GUN: In the case of the Y-gun it takes two Y Actions to send an Alien. One successful Y Action to capture it and one to send it. Sending is guaranteed. An Alien's V must be below 19pts. before it can be held. Once held an Alien can take no further actions other that talking for two full days. On the first day of being held only the Gantzer who snared the Alien can send the Alien. On day two anyone can send it. On day three, if at that time no one has sent the Alien, the Alien can break the hold. Damage Multipliers do no apply. Jack pulls out the Y-gun and tries to snare the alien (10Y:dJ) [98V:100S:60X:40Y:0K] (if Jack was successful then the next day) Jack pulls out the Y-gun and sends the alien () [98V:100S:60X:50Y:1K] GWT:GANTZER:CONTROLLER: The controller can be used to request a map update and to engage the stealth. To request a map update use form: Statement + “engages the controller map”. () Stat line. To engage the stealth use form: Statement + “engages the stealth”. (5V:Index) Adjusted stat line (5 point minimum) Since stealth either works or not you only need an index of .50 or higher. You can not attack, be attacked or take any actions while cloaked. You must wait one full day to uncloak. GWT:GANTZER:ALL WEAPONS:TRANSFERS: If you are down to 0 in Xpts or Ypts but still wish to attack then and only then can you transfer from your Vitality. Do so in the form: Gantzer (##V>>To Stat) [Adjusted stat line] ## is the amount of points you want to transfer. The current value and stat. >> to denote a transfer. The destination stat. 5pt units for X pts. 10pt units for Y pts. END PART 1

You should keep things simple, create the game with only a set of conditions to determine the character profile and use a simple random number generator; you don't need to keep things completely transparent.

Errr... too many things to remember, especially when i started reading the objects section. How are the players suppose to remember all that? Hows does the player find these objects anyway? through the gm or...? Maybe you could put everything in a table or something.
So anyway... about the betting system; when i use a weapon, say X-gun (my xgun stats are 60), what do i bet with? the X-stats? If yes what happens when i run out of X-gun stats? i won't be able to use the weapon anymore? Also an alien has a short range and long range attacks (which function like the x & y weapons, right?) what about melee attacks? is it the same as gantz players? I'll try out your system later when i have some time, playing an alien sound interesting.

Think of these stats like ammo. If you run out of Xpts. you can borrow from your Vpts. It's in the manual Melee for alien's is the same for Gantzers. I told you it was insane. Aliens S1 and S2 are more like the X-gun and X-rifle. I'll probably change Specialty to any range and leave the minimum requirement in tact.

These are examples of the GWT Controller Map and what actions can be taken for a given range. You can't travel beyond your outter ring per post.
![]() In this example although Bob and Bill the Alien can see each but they are out of range of any attack. . ![]() In this example Bob and Bill the Alien can use long range weapons (Xr,Y,S2) and Bob can use the suit (S) to do a rush attack. The distance between Bob and Bill when the rings touch is the maximum distance a Gantzer can jump or run using the suit. It's one and a half rings. You can run half the distance of a ring, walk a forth and crawl a eighth of a ring in one post/action.
